I'm using a coffee warmer which goes to 131 degrees F, is that warm enough?** A: It should be! I think it said 120 F in the instructions. I used a hair dryer for a while (slow but works) and now a heat gun. **Q: Can this be used as a mold for metal resin or resin on pattern silicone sheets?** A: I'm not sure if the resin will come away from the Thermo-lock cleanly or not. **Q: Can Thermo-Lock be used to hold cast bezel pieces that require some removal of metal? Can it withstand some heat without the piece coming loose?** A: Good question--Thermal lock heats very quickly in the microwave--and I only use it for engraving--I know it would hold the bezel in place nicely--as far as heat--maybe not **Q: can it be used to embed stones on a jewelry piece while soldering? or will the compound melt too quickly?** A: Do not - and I repeat DO NOT - expose to open flame. It will burn quickly and the larger the piece the larger the flames and hotter it gets. I tested it when I got the idea as well. I test stones that I work with to see what their tolerance to soldering heat is. Some stones are OK, but others will crack or shatter. It is all part of the learning process.
