Lava Stones Rock
It’s very difficult to find these lava rocks for older bbq grills which use natural gas. Glad we could get some on Amazon.

Pro's and Cons ?? I've solved the issue
I am writing this review in lieu of all of you that HATE big and small lava rocks. Especially those that FALL THRU THE GRATE. I bought these and started to put them on the grill with little ones falling through and then realizing why my husband said when I asked if I could put these in HIS GRILL he said . "go ahead - have fun". I didn't know what that meant at the time. I thought I would be able to pour the bag in the grill and wa-la, presto done. Not so!!! And he knew it. Well, for those who read this review and who bake - I found the solution. Go to the store and buy a cookie cooling rack the size of the inner side of your grill. I bought one. Put it above the gas burner (on the grate that I would have had to neatly stack these lava rocks on) and poured the bag in. Presto, Done!!!! The cookie sheet squares are only 1/2 x 1/2" if that so even the smallest of the lava rocks would not fall through. I was done in seconds. :-)

Kinda used it for a Fishtank? uhh...eh?
Many Apologies I can't give a review about grilling, keeping the fire inside the circle, or holding warmth for a long period. Since they are Lava rocks its assumed they'll work perfectly to do such action. But I gave 4 stars on those anyway, hurray. Now what I actually used it for was my fishtank they worked perfectly as I had hoped. They're easily stackable, the shrimp love to hide along them, they provide great filtration, and finally look overall a nice aesthetic. I am a wee-bit sad they didn't float, but ahh well they're still a nice fishtank addition.

Good Value
Bought this for use with my new BBQ,to help with heat retention and to catch the grease and drippings.I was pleased with the amount of rocks that I actually got and I put the bigger ones at the bottom so none would fall out and filled it in with the smaller ones on the top and it not only works well it actually looks good in my barbecue ! Good value for the money, recommended.

Size of rocks not as pictured
Flavor rating doesn’t apply here. I bought these as they were recommended for steaming when baking bread in a conventional oven. The rocks that are pictured only make up maybe 1/3 of the bag..the rest are smaller including a lot of very small under 1” stones. I can’t imagine they could all be used on a grate..most of them would fall thru. This works for my purposes though as I will use the larger ones for steaming my bread and the smaller ones will use them in the bottom of potted plants. They do need to be washed. Very dusty with red residue.

Great for steam baking
Use these on my oven to create steam for bread baking. Works great in my deep chafing dish to build up steam

I HAD A VERY BAD TIME GETTING ALL THE ROCK PARTICLES OUT OF THE ...
The Char-Broil Lava Rock was just as advertised. HOWEVER, whomever is in charge of your packaging department has a lot to learn. YOU DO NOT PUT A BAG OF ROCKS INTO A BOX WITH 4 BOOKS. DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR? I HAD A VERY BAD TIME GETTING ALL THE ROCK PARTICLES OUT OF THE PAGES OF THE BOOKS. LET'S USE OUR HEADS THE NEXT TIME YOU SEND LAVA ROCK TO SOMEONE WHO HAS ALSO ORDERED BOOKS.....TRY TO SEND IT BY ITSELF IN A BOX...ALONE, AT THE RISK OF REPEATING MYSELF. WILL NOT BE REVIEWING THE BOOKS THAT WERE SENT. THEY ARE BOOKS, ASIDE FROM THE FACT THAT THEY WERE FULL OF LAVA ROCK DUST.
