Required modification
This replacement part is not to the same tolerances as the OEM part. The actual install is simple but to make it work properly required modification of the part. The inside of the button is designed to receive a metal plunger that converts the horizontal movement into vertical. This depresses the mechanism in the center of the shift level allowing you to move the shift lever from Park to Drive, etc.The problem is that the inside of the replacement part is too narrow and binds on the metal plunger. Since the plunger doesn't fit as deeply into the replacement part, it holds the shift lever in a 'slightly' unlocked position. The result is that you can't take your keys out of the ignition as it senses that the shifter has not fully unlocked. To fix this, I had to remove material from the inside of the replacement part so that the metal plunger could fully seat properly. Once done, the part worked as expected.

change the mold
although it was very easy to install, there is something not right about the shape. I feel that the angled groove in the plastic replacement piece is not the right dimension. Even though I carved out the inside of the groove to allow the metal piece to go into the plastic more, it was not enough. Although the shifter would shift, it would not allow the key to return to the lock position to remove the key. I then attached the handle loosely, giving the plunger room at the top, then and only then could I remove the key. has nothing to do with a stuck key like many articles on the internet say, mine was that the ignition would not return to the lock position. I would not by it again from the same company that produced this part. It isn't the distributor that I bought if from, it is the way it was made.

Works fine and gets the job done.
The plastic shifter knob in my 20 year old car broke. This new one works fine, like the old one did before it broke. I wasn’t surprised the 20 year old plastic one broke. When I removed it and looked at the old one, the dab of lithium grease the factory applied seemed to have absorbed into the old plastic, weakening it. So I cleaned the shifter fitting and installed the new one dry and without lithium grease. The new one works fine, 2 months now since I installed it.

Does not work properly in a 1999 Honda accord
Does not properly fit a 1999 Honda Accord, does not allow the shift lever to raise high enough in neutral and the keys cannot be taken out of the ignition. I should’ve read more of the reviews because I see this is an ongoing issue others have stated.

It fits perfectly. But...
It works and fits perfectly, but you need lubricant grease and snug in the screws (but not too tight) in order to have the knob and have it lock (and set on Park) properly for the shift knob to move.
