Because parts are available to repair a broken reel. This reel is just the newest example of the 6500C3. It's a very smooth reel. It uses the new six pin brake. Don't know if that's better than the old two brake system but it's much easier to adjust braking. To me gearing seems to be quieter too. These are still the made in Sweden models and seem just as good as the older ones..They can easily be serviced. You can upgrade the bearings to six on these by installing some available parts. You can easily upgrade the bearings ABEC rating as well. Just good reels that have been around a very long time. Pure Fishing has bought up most of the iconic brands in fishing and moved a lot of production to China. Get one while they are still Swedes. The Chinese S models are different reels all together.
