Does what it says on the tin!
This is exactly what it says! Nothing fancy and does the job. It's USB 2 but to recover data and copy files, that's fine. Wouldn't say this is for permanent or long-term use, ie as a 'working drive' but perfectly suited to help with backups and data recovery, etc. Build quality is OK but could benefit from putting a 'Pin Number 1' marker on the connection to help you identify which is the right way around. Cable length is OK and suitable for the job. All round, a decent product.

Great Stuff!
Worked a treat to access a legacy 2.5 inch hard disk.

Price and simplicity
Had a few IDE disc drives to check out before disposal. Works okay but a bit flaky causing the drive to go off line. I wouldn't trust it for accessing disc drives on a daily basis or much at all really. For just over six quid worth the peace of mind.

Ancient photos recovered
I'm on a mission to organise and back up all my data. I have terabytes of it, all over the place across various HDDs, SSDs, memory sticks and flash memory cards. I had an old Maxtor external 2.5" HDD, the controller for which wasn't supported by Windows 10. I bought this and it met my expectations brilliantly. I recovered photos from a family holiday 14 years ago which I thought had been lost forever, along with horrendous photos from my teenage years through my early twenties. It powers the 2.5" drives through USB, anything larger will require a MOLEX or SATA power supply. It is plug and play, at least on Windows, so no messing about with drivers. Yes, it's cheap and plasticky, and it probably won't last for a long time, but it has done the job and made my day.

Be aware.
Presume the item is good. Not sure if it works yet as it didn't come with any power for my old hard drive. Its not just plug in and work. Being a novice to external hard drive sources I wasnt aware it was just the data connection with no power

Worked well cloning a a hard drive with IDE connections
I used the cable to clone an old IDE hard drive to a MSATA III 256GB SSD Internal Solid State Drive via a GINTOOYUN IDE Hard Drive Enclosure. The only thing I would say to remember is that if you are using a fresh SSD that it is more than likely "unallocated" so you have to use the "Disk Management" tool to view/format the drive. Worked perfectly for me.
