Very nice. I'd buy it again
I've got a bunch of rods and reels. Most are off the rack$100 and below. This steps things up to another level. Incredibly smooth and quiet. Seems to be a locked reel, it doesn't reel in reverse. Large handle mid sized. It's well made, very greased up.

Absolutely amazing reel!
This is the best reel I’ve ever used! Super smooth casting and very comfortable handle! It’s strong and durable! I’ve used this on a charter boat and it worked perfectly! Caught some large fish on it! Love this product and most of the products they sell!

Totally satisfied
Bought this to do some fishing from the dock where I was staying in the FL Keys. Easily handled a 5 ft nurse shark but even more surprising it landed a 4 ft tarpon that must have weighted over 40 pounds. Granted it took me 6 hook ups before finally getting the beast to the boat ramp. With the drag cranked up I was able to pull him enough to keep him from running under the dock and cutting me off with the pilings. Outstanding reel especially at this price point. I've bought several other Kastking reels but they were smaller fresh water reels which are OK but I wouldn't buy again.

Kapstan Elite Waterproof Saltwater Reel
Just received the Kapstan Elite Saltwater Reel. I've rated it 4 Stars and I'll update after I get it into the surf and can test out the specs. I'll say this, some of the better known manufacturers could learn from KastKing when it comes to packaging and presentation. I own more expensive reels that arrived jammed in a basic box. Kapstan arrived in a solid box with the reel resting in a foam cut-out along with instructions, warranty, and line weight stickers. Aesthetically, it's a sharp reel, though my preference would be for an all silver/aluminum look for a waterproof saltwater reel. Think Van Stall. I got the 5000, which is a respectable 22 oz. Max drag is 40lbs. The reel is smooth, though my BG is smoother. BG doesn't claim to be 100% waterproof. I decided on the 5000, as it suits my needs and the rotor is aluminum. The rotor on 3000 & 4000 is carbon fiber. What really caught my eye was the 100% waterproof IPX6 spec with EverSeal rubber rings. As anyone who fishes the salt knows, there aren't that many truly waterproof reels. Shimano Stella, Van Stall VR, Penn Torque, etc. come to mind. Certainly not $150 reels. The price point will appeal to alot of people who don't want to drop $500++ for a reel. I'm looking forward to giving the reel a good workout on the Outer Banks.

No Way to disable the Anti-Reverse!
Really nice Reel, but it does not have a way to disable the Anti-Reverse.... Really screwed up my Trip as I expected to be able to disable it!

WOW! This reel is a TANK…
WOW! That was my response upon receiving my two new Kastking Kapstan 3000 Spinning Reels… This reel is a TANK… I plan to pair them with my two Kastking Inshore Estuary Rods, and I suspect this will be a wonderful marriage… 10/12/2022 Update... Finally able to use the reel on an inshore Redfish excursion... Passed with flying colors... See photo and video.... The Kapstan Series of spinning reels are exclusively for Saltwater fishing hence the IPX6 waterproof rating. The reel boasts a 5.7.1 gear ratio and in the 3000 – 4000 series a max drag rating of 30 pounds! 30 pounds is more than enough drag power for the inshore species such as Redfish, Black Drum, Speckled Sea Trout, Flounder, and the occasional Snook thrown in for good measure. I mentioned this reel is a Tank… It is; however, in the 3000 to 4000 series it’s not too heavy in my opinion. Paired with my 7’ Inshore Estuary Series Rods the whole set-up weighs in just under 19 ounces. Even casting artificials, it’s not going to wear you out. I set my reels up with Kastking’s Destron Braid (15lb test) and did a drag check. The drag was super smooth and did not have any glitches. After testing the drag, while using a digital scale, I set the drag for 3.5 lbs. (roughly 22% of the line’s poundage rating). I found that precisely setting your drag for 20% to 30% of your lines poundage rating is the key to not snapping off when fighting a good size fish. The reel, although heavy duty, is aesthetically pleasing to look at. It’s made very well with both carbon and aluminum materials. This looks to be another homerun by Kastking, and time will tell. At face value, the Kapstan Spinning Reel series is a winner… Paired with a Kastking Inshore Estuary series rod, and Kastking Braided line, it’s sure to strike fear into all inshore species!
