A really good place to start if you want to get your feet wet with pen testing.

Provides a very good introduction to pentesting. If you are already doing pentesting, you will probably want a more advanced read, but new techs will find it readable.

Sean Oriyano knows his stuff & this book is no different. You may have seen him on ITPRO.TV here on Amazon. His expertise in pentesting and ceh are well worth the read and helpful for anyone studying for a certification.

Unfortunately, basics of basics.Nothing's real technical, it's scratching at a surface i didn't know existed..I mean, who is it the author was writing to? Medicine doctors trying to conducts a pentest??

Instead of being a security book it is a story book.
