Stories from the Early Life of Gyatrul Rinpoche

This book of Venerable Gyatrol Rinpoche’s life in Tibet gives great insight into a culture and way of being that existed before the invasion that forced thousands to flee their homeland.

Very nice stories. Some of them are amazing and some others moved me deeply. I enjoyed them very much. Although it is an easy reading, it is profound.

Seems like an interesting book.

This is an excellent history of the activity of Ven. Gyatrul Rinpoche. He has been a wonderful and humorous teachrer to thousands of people. As one of the early Tibetans to come to the United States, Rinpoche has done a lot to help Westerners learn the practices of Tibetan Buddhism. The author has written an excellent history from the birth of Ven. Gyaltrul Rinpoche, his time of study in Tibet, to his escape from Tibet and his eventual travel and residence on the West Coast of North America. Rinpoche is an amazing Yogi, and here are some of his stories of his life put together by his long time students, especially Gaea Yudron.

Gaea Yudron has done the world a great favor by assembling powerful and moving anecdotes from one of the last living lamas who experienced the spiritual training and environment of Tibet before the Communist Chinese invasion. As someone who knows Gyatrul Rinpoche, I found myself frequently moved to tears by the purity of his character, so rare to find. But due to Gaea's adroit storytelling, even those new to Tibetan Buddhism will find much to marvel over, glimpsing a mystical Tibet that we may never see again.
