Not as good as I had hoped
Knowing that the author was involved in manufacturing wargames figures in this period, I was thoroughly looking forward to this book. Perhaps I should have had lower aspirations for it. Apart from the painting instructions, which are extremely well detailed, it is an utter waste of money. Just so basic and incomplete. I wish I had seen the review in Miniature Wargames/ Wargames Illustrated (can't remember which one!) before I bought this. The painting instructions are good for those wishing to up their "games" so to speak. The rest of it is for absolute beginners. So disappointing.

Just a painting guide
Very dissapointed about the content. Nice pictures but little value. Nothing about rules, scenography or terrain, just a painting guide. Most pages are repeated again an again. Not only explain how to paint a french soldier, but almost the same content for a british, prussian, austrian or russian soldier, why?

This book is quite different from the other books in this series. Less about painting.
It tries to cover every aspect of the Napoleonic gaming. I was expecting more about painting like the other books in the series. Most of the topic discussed int he book are better covered in other publications. While I am sure the author succeeds in his goals of trying to be all things Napoleonic I feel the departures from just painting to be a disappointment.
