is the outlet on the wall 20amps. Like microwave uses 20 amps. You can use 17amps to 20amps

Don't know what a smart plug is ? I am assuming it's a plug with more outlets on it . This will plug into and 15 or 20 amp 3 prong outlet and extend it so u can plug anything into the female side of this plug , the female side will accept either 15 or 20 amp Male configuration , like wise the male side will accept any female 15 or 20 amp configuration . Once the outlet is 120 or 125. VAC ... If this is what u want to do ? It will work
