This antenna is 6" away from the antenna it replaced in the back of my computer, except it's mounted outside the shop instead of inside it. After doing some research I learned wifi antennas actually broadcast at a downward angle if the antenna is pointing straight up. Originally when I aimed the antenas (the tip pointed towards the router) I was getting 2-4Mbps, it was better but still awful. After aiming the antennas with the tips almost opposite of the router the signal dramatically improved! If you your looking at the picture I posted of the antennas, my router is on the left side. It seems counterintuitive but I same a huge increase in speed. Now I'm wondering if some of these bad reviews are from improper aiming. For anyone wondering, the antenna base is magnetic, I ordered a pack of metal sticky back phone mounts, one of them was 4x3 inches.
