I broadcasted this seed last fall as an overseeding project for my lawn. I had pretty decent germination by broadcasting with a spreader. In some areas where I didn't need complete overseeding I tossed the seed out by hand. I didn't really notice any improvement over other fescue seeds. It came up like any seed I've put down. I've got some hard spots where grass has died and I didn't rake them up before broadcasting, hoping the seed might find a home anyway and it didn't work in those areas. That's my fault for being lazy! It's a good product, but if this costs more than other grass seed, I wouldn't spend more for this particular product.

This is a very reliable combination of seed and fertilizer. I'm in SoCal and have been using this brand for years. Based on my experience, grass typically starts to germinate within a week, even in shady areas. It is great for patching, overseeding, or starting a new lawn. The grass looks great and thrives in SoCal's winter but also does well in the summer heat. This is my go-to mix.

I spread the seed over dethatched and aerated ground and watered 1-2 times daily for 10 minutes. The seed sprouted in five days and is several inches tall after two weeks. The grass is nicely green. We’ll see how it performs through the winter and next season’s heat, but it certainly provides a quick base if you want to overplant with other seed that takes longer to sprout.

I have actually ordered this twice now. I re-did my lawn this spring and chose to use this for overseeding. If you follow the directions, you will get a nice lawn.
