So much better than other hose containment options
Nice looking and works precisely and easily. No leaks. Sturdy and well made.

Nice looking
Very sturdy and nice looking. Iโm going to buy another one for the front yard. I would only use with a high quality rubber hose!

1/5 due to Assembly, Design & Documentation deficiencies
Update 20230928 Rcv'd and unboxed the third (2nd replacement) unit and found it to be already broken where the crank handle attaches to the axle shaft. So, it is apparent that a lack of quality control accompanies the design deficiencies noted previously. Unacceptable. Waiting to hear back about how they plan to address this new failure given that I was to return the failed unit in the new unit's box. I now have possession of TWO failed units. This is almost unbelievable but sadly all too common. Still, unacceptable. Update 20230907 Second unit failed after 3 months. The reversing wormdrive is too soft for this application. Garbage fabricated elsewhere and thrown away here. One of the selling features of this particular model is the hose alignment guide. The guide aligns the hose to the reel automatically as the hose is wound onto the reel thus keeping the hose neatly wound to the reel. Issues: 1) This feature is not described in the accompanying manual. 2) The way this hose guide feature is implemented in the design is disappointing. Typically, this feature consists of a 1/4-turn spring pin that engages or disengages the guide. While the guide on this hose reel is indeed a spring pin it does not have the pull-turn 1/4-release to engage/disengage the guide. You must pull and hold the pin while trying to move the guide. Also, the guide itself has a locking screw that must first be removed to even allow the pin to be pulled up. 3) A hex wrench accompanies the kit of parts and is used to secure the crank handle to the reel shaft with a locking screw. All well and good except that the majority of fasteners on the unit are larger than the supplied hex wrench and were either very loose or had fallen out of their positions upon unboxing. So, you may need your own set of hex wrenches to perform final assembly.

Great. Beware that the hose guide is greased! Obviously no hardware!
So, when I received it, I opened the box and grabbed it by the hose guide and got a handful of grease. I guess it is good that it is lubricated but something to keep in mind. Many reviews complain that it doesn't come with hardware. This should be obvious. Some people mount it to brick, some to wood, etc. And not everybody likes the same kind of hardware. I suppose that maybe they could be more explicit that mounting hardware isn't included. But it should be obvious. I mounted it using 3/8" by 2 1/4" Tapcon concrete screws. I should have used 5/16" because the 3/8" uses a 3/8" drill into the concrete but the threads are actually about 1/2" diameter and thus I actually had to drill out the holes in the hose reel slightly. But that wasn't a big deal and it is solidly mounted to my house. Even so, had I realized, I would have used 5/16" instead. See picture. One reviewer suggested only doing the top bolts, since your wall might not be perfectly flat and doing all four might twist it. Not a bad idea but my wall happened to be quite flat and I did all four. Or maybe you could put in all four but leave the bottom ones slightly loose. The screws it is assembled with are black painted. One reviewer suggested replacing them with stainless screws. Not a bad idea but I haven't yet. It is surprisingly light, but that is because it is aluminum. When I first picked it up, I thought it wasn't sturdy because it is so light. But that is just because of the aluminum. And so of course it won't rust. Before picking this one, I saw some other products here on Amazon, many in stainless steel. Some of them costing many times more than this. I saw one SS model here that was in the same price range, but its hose guide was plastic and got poor reviews, so I got this. Now, I've only used it a few times, so I can't say how long it will last, but it certainly seems sturdy. Yet many users report longevity issues. So, I have some concerns there. I guess time will tell. But at least for the moment, zero leaks, works perfect. Some people report that the rubber grip on the handle deteriorates. I'm considering making a nice wood one on a lathe. At any rate, there are lots of options if the rubber grip deteriorates. I bought it with the hose guide. That makes it a lot more expensive, and many people report the guide being problematic over time. I like it so much I bought a second unit for the back yard, but I got the second unit without the guide. It says it holds 125 feet of 5/8" hose. I'm not sure it will, but maybe. I'm using 75 feet of 3/4" hose, and it works well. I also replaced the short leader hose my own short 3/4" hose rather than use what it came with.

Take care of it.
If you do not or are not capable of maintaining your equipment, then you may be better off buying something that you just replace every year or so. I have had my hose reel installed for 4 years with no problems. It does require tightening of fasteners from time to time, once a year maybe. The seals should be inspected and replaced at about the same frequency. And, lubrication is absolutely essential. I inspect mine in the spring and full and make sure the bearings are well greased/oiled, the drive chain and gears are lubricated and the hose guide bar and follower have a good coat of lithium grease on them. This last item may need to be addressed more often. Factory defects and shipping damage not withstanding, if properly maintained this reel can be a beautiful and well functioning addition to a landscape. It is mine. 4/5 because I have never seen a perfect piece of equipiment and until I do there are no "10's."

The LAST hose reel you will ever need!! This is QUALITY stuff here, folks!
Do yourself a favor and stop wasting money on those cheap plastic hose reels that last a couple years before the plastic breaks and/or the water inlet tube snaps and water sprays everywhere. In the 10 years I've been in this house, I have gone through 4 of these wall-mounted plastic hose reels. The first one lasted about 7 years...when I went to replace it with the same one, it was no longer available. The closest I could find is what is pictured...and this one lasted less than two years. I finally decided I'm done with the cheapos and spent the extra money for a metal hose reel that is made right. I firmly believe this will last me a LONG time! It's chain driven, all metal, no plastic junk ANYWHERE, and it's solid. Not to mention, it looks really nice. I like it so much, I bought a second one to replace the plastic one at the back of my house. Pros: All metal construction Chain drive Auto-drive hose guide Great looks Cons: Cost more than the plastic ones, but will definitely outlast those, so in the end, it's a cheaper solution.

Easy installation. No leaks. High quality!
The Liberty Garden model 707 hose reel was very easy to install. I used a piece of cardboard from the hose reel packaging to make a template. I traced the 4 holes on to the cardboard and then held the cardboard, rather than the hose reel, on to the side of our house to mark the mounting holes. I used a 3/16" masonry drill bit to drill the 4 holes into our cinder block wall. I then used 4 screw concrete anchors (not sure if I'm allowed to mention the brand name of these popular blue concrete anchors) and 4 stainless steel washers to attach the hose reel to the cinder block wall. I connected the hose and made sure that there were no leaks. Then I used the handle to wind up 120 feet of 5/8" garden hose on to the Liberty Garden hose reel. We have two hoses (60 feet each) connected together. While winding up the hose, I realized that our existing repair end was too wide to fit through the hole on the Liberty Garden hose reel. So, I ordered a hose repair end that was skinnier, and all worked great. It's a little pricey, but it's also well built. I recommend it if you're in the market for a high quality hose reel that's easy to install and doesn't leak.

Be careful when you open box for loose parts.
Ok, this is not exactly what I thought I was going to get. Yes, the basic looks are the same, but that is about where it stops. Here are things I ran into: 1. Do not know what type of packing they are using, but when the box was opened a million little beads of styrofoam came out. And, being what they are, they were electrostatically attached to everything in the area!!! So, OPEN OUTSIDE and open carefully with a vacuum standing by. 2. The screw (only one) that attaches the handle to the unit was in the bottom of the box wandering around. 3. The plastic rings that hold the reel to the water take up part came apart and was flopping around. You need to force the sides out to have enough thread to screw them back together again. They are a nut and bolt type arrangement, not screws. Once they are together do NOT tighten too much or you will break the plastic. 4. There is no mounting hardware included. If mounting it on the side of a house with cement siding, ensure you have wood under it to attach to or use good expansion bolts for the concrete. 5. As opposed to other products that have 6 mounting holes and a drop in for the bottom to make installation easy, this unit is only 4 bolts and NO drop in so get the holes right the first time. 6. The handle attaches with a single screw and it is a round shaft with a round hole hand so your only tension point is the small screw!!!! Be careful not to put too much pressure on it!!!! 7. The follower guide for the hose had enough grease on it to sink a boat!!! I am serious, it was absolutely covered in a quarter inch of grease!!!! The guide is plastic, so this makes NO sense anyway. Handle carefully or you will not only have all of the beads attached to you, but you will also have grease on you as well. 8. The handle has a rubber cover that squirms when you use the handle. Not sure this is going to last long!! Overall, I would NOT recommend this product.

Looks Great, Works Great, Solid
This is a solid hose reel, all metal, will look great and work great much longer than a cheesy plastic one. No leaks and hose reels in nice and even. Have two at current home, had one for years at the last place too, it was still looking great and working leak-free when I moved.

No better domestic hose reel
Love it. Wife loves it. We live in the UK where the threads are different so had to do some adapting. It was worth it. Ours is loaded to the max with hose and we use the full length all the time.

Love the Look and Winds Up Easily but the Spout is Set to Wrong Angle
UPDATE to the info below: I have had this item now for 3 years and the only thing I have had to do is WD40 DRYLUBE the chain and gear otherwise it will bind. BE SURE TO USE DRY LUBE. This item adds a nice look to where the hose is stored, and winds in and out incredibly well. I've only had it for about a month but the quality appears to be very good, and durable. I bought two, and the first one required me to fit a piece (the black ring you see in picture 2) that should have already been screwed in. Fortunately I was able to do it, but I am a bit disappointed with the QC. Still, it wasn't damaged, so all's good. The only other issue is the kinking of the main hose that is caused by the fact that the nozzle where the main hose connects to the hose reel is not angled down enough. Another 10 degrees downward would probably be perfect. You can see in the first picture above, that I have added a small extension piece that helps prevent kinking but it's still not 100%. I do like however, that it is not too high on the inside that is obstructs the winding. The handle is a nice feel but I suspect it will wear out quickly. I'm just hoping there are replacement options for these. Some things to keep in mind (Not that I have done these, but I noticed in other comments that these were issues): 1. don't wind the hose up if the water is on. The hose becomes too heavy and may pull on the geared hose guide causing it to skip. 2. don't try to wind it up with the hose fully extended and at an angle to the hose reel then expect it to wind easily. You may risk causing the hose guide to slip and because it is cast aluminum and not steel, it will wear more easily albeit, not rust. 3. drain and store disconnected for areas where winters are freezing. 4. there are no leaks. there is however, a need to replace hose rubber washers annually otherwise, there will be leaks. Overall, I am quite happy with this product and have recommended it to others, but it only got a '4' because of the bad angle on the connection.

Looks great, works well
The bar that slides the hose back and forth was the key feature for me. I'm glad to say it works exactly as it should; unrolling and cranking it back in are both smooth, easy, automatic, and even. Make sure you do put the Teflon tape on the threads before attaching the hose, and it's completely tight, not a drop comes out. Looks good too, so no complaints at all!
