## Description

Product description 1. Only works with close WiFi/Doesn’t work well with WiFi connection/Can't hook-up to net/Funny story...Connects to work wifi but not with home wifi router, Works Well...When Working/ General WiFi Issues >> While most customers face no issues with WiFi, Let's address this concern. This sensor is mostly installed in basements or tanks which are likely at a distance from your router. Even before you buy the sensor, we suggest that you take a smart phone (or tablet), stand next to the wall outlet where you intend to plug-in the base unit, and check if your phone can browse a webpage such as facebook/ yahoo/ etc. Make sure it is on WiFi, and not using your cellular data connection. This will give you a good indication of whether there is reasonable signal strength. Not all connection issues are signal related. First, the sensor can currently only connect to 2.4GHz WiFi. But the good news is that most all routers have the ability to support both 2.4 and 5G WiFi simultaneously. If it is not already enabled, you can easily do so. • When it looks like the sensor is not connecting, from our experience with those reached out for support, 99% has to do with WiFi password, missing capital letter, or they thought they had the right password. But that's again not the only reason. • In very few cases, there are default settings related to your wifi channel, bandwidth, b/g/n mixed mode vs only n or even ac, Wireless MultiMedia (WMM) handler, etc that can cause an issue. If need be, we will help you troubleshoot such issues. • Then are rare cases where the sensor wifi radio itself is to blame. In many cases where customer was ok with a replacement, we have shipped out replacements which resolved the issue. 2. After setting up device, put sensor in glass of water and no alarm or alert on my phone! Don’t buy! >> This is primarily caused by the 3.5mm connector not being pushed in all the way into the base unit. This happens because in many cases, the connector seems like it is pushed in all the way, and feels tight. We even see customers absolutely sure it is pushed all the way in. However, a slightly harder push makes that extra 1/16th inch click inwards and that should resolve the issue. 3. False Alarms >> The sensor node is very stable under normal operating conditions, but we have seen customers report cases of False alarms. This can happen under specific circumstances. The sensor probe detects water when water comes in touch with the two metal contacts on the sensor. This sensor not has internal circuitry and is an active sensing element. Instead of water, it can pick up a WET condition when there is high humidity in the air, causing micro condensation on the node. The sensor maintains an electrical threshold corresponding to DRY state. Over time, this threshold can drift a bit, and depending on your specific install location, humidity, dampness, etc the rate of deterioration can vary, and some end up crossing the threshold to make it look like a WET state. What to do about False Alarms? With our new and updated hardware, we do have the option of adjusting the threshold cutoff value so that this drift can be compensated in most cases. Additionally, if your sensor probe has had few years of use and the threshold drift is very high, you can simply replace the cable alone to fix this issue. 4. Deceptive advertising. No text. The way we send the message is not a direct SMS. But what you receive is definitely a Text Message. We primarily recommend and use this feature because this is included in your phone service and no additional charges are incurred. If you need messages sent via the cell tower, we do offer that under our advanced options plan. Need help? Customer support available at 347.674.4501 Proteus AQUO Simple, Powerful Water Sensor. Review: What's your peace of mind worth? - Easy setup - no issues whatsoever, including adding additional sensors. Flawless operation. Excellent web-based control center with multiple options for each sensor, including: ability to name each sensor, specify if sensor is normally wet/dry, buzzer settings (continuous or silence after X minutes), advanced mode (for an additional monthly fee which includes Voice Call Notifications, Extended Data logs, Elevated Alarm Notifications, IFTTT, Slack Webhooks, desertcart Alexa Notifications and more), notification settings for emails and mobile numbers, ability to resend alerts every X minutes, notification when alarm has been reset, notification if power goes down for longer than X minutes, and optional email list for power/wifi issues (primary email is default). There are also links to product FAQs, instructions for adding the control center to your phone as an app (Add to Home Screen on iPhone), and the company's contact info. While these sensors are certainly on the pricey side, they provide invaluable peace of mind. Could not be happier with my purchase decision and would highly recommend them to others.
Review: Outstanding Product and Customer Service!!! - After reading the reviews, I questioned the issue of 2.4MHz and 5 MHz internet bandwidth, as I have “pods” which I am told have makes my internet coverage a “mesh system”, thus it uses both bands. I spoke with a customer tech directly at Proteus (how refreshing to talk with a person!) and was informed that their unit was singularly 2.4MHz. My provider is Comcast (which is a whole story in itself trying to talk to a human) and found the following information: Why do I no longer see the 2.4 and 5 GHz radio band names of my network? Pods require that you only have one WiFi network name and password. Your network still has both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radio bands, but now your Gateway will sort out the best connection at any given time for your devices. Keep in mind, you may need to reconnect devices to your WiFi name and password, if they were previously connected to a name designated for a single radio band. I ordered the Proteus AQUO WiFi Water Sensor – PSFD07 – with a 6-foot cord. It was extremely easy to set up, and after a variety of self-test exercises (water detected, unplugged (loss of power), power restored, the text and email notifications worked perfectly! I did make a typo in setting up the optional second field for power notifications but solved that by copying and pasting from the first field (to enable texting and emailing, and all is working just a described by Proteus.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: what is minimum water level before the sensor will detect a leak? Looks like it cannot be mounted flush with the floor**
A: This needs a slightly longer answer :). First, the sensor detects water as soon as water touches both the electroplated conductors at the bottom of the sensor. But there are two plastic bars to the side of these conductors which raise them about 1/16th of an inch from the floor. So, the quick answer would be that it takes around 1/16th of an inch of water or more for the sensor to trigger an alarm. Now, about flush mounting to the floor: The gap using the plastic bars is provided for a reason. In most cases, floors hold some moisture under normal circumstances. Even when they seem to be dry. But if you were to place the electrodes flush on ground, they could very well pick up this moisture and start sending alerts, which would appear as false alerts. Hence the small gap.Having said that, if you have an application where you not for sure this is not the case and the floor (or any surface of interest where you want to place the sensor) is completely dry in normal cases, you can shave off the plastic side bars to the point where the metal clips touch the floor. Then, any moisture/ water on the surface will trigger the sensor right away, without having to wait for the level to rise to 1/16th inch or more. Hope this answers the question :)

**Q: If I lose power at home, wouldn't I lose the router that provides access to the network to send an email / text?**
A: Think of it as a feature:) On two occasions we've lost power and had to leave our house. When the power comes back, I get a notification that the sensor is again reachable which tells me the power is back and we can go home!

**Q: Is it possible to set up the system so that the alarm does not go off but you still get a text/email?**
A: Absolutely. The audible alert is programmable in 3 ways. 1. Trigger normally, keep beeping. 2. Trigger normally, snooze after set time period, 3. Turned OFF. You can change these settings any time, from the cloud interface on your phone or computer.

**Q: if the sensor gets fully submerged in water will that cause problems?**
A: It has not caused problems for me, but that is just via testing it briefly in a bucket of water.
