So disappointing
Having a life long love of morel mushrooms. I have heard that people have grown them at home. I have looked at the product for a year or so, but never pulled the trigger on it. But last spring I pulled the trigger and took a chance on this kit. I followed the instructions to the letter. At this point I think they got me...ie maybe sold me a bag of topsoil. The bad part is by the time you figure out it doesn't work. There is nothing you can do. Just disappointing.

Company does not stand behind warranty of product.
Company guarantees product--"We guarantee that, environment permitting; your morel spawn is capable of producing Morel mushrooms in a properly managed Morel Habitat with proper environmental conditions. The total number of mushrooms you can expect to get in each habitat may vary from year to year, and will depend on the care of your Habitat and environmental conditions. We test each batch of spawn. If we find that any batch of spawn is unable to produce morel mushrooms, we will send you new spawn free." I purchased product as gift for my wife in June 2018. We prepared an environment per the instructions. No mushrooms the first year. In emailing company they stated we would have to wait two years for mushroom to grow. Fast forward to June 2020. We emailed again, as we have no mushrooms. We live in midwest climate where morels grow naturally quite well. Company REFUSES to respond to multiple emails or honor their guarantee. DO NOT SPEND MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT IF YOU EXPECT IT TO BE GUARANTEED. Will NEVER recommend to anyone. Shame on Amazon for allowing this vendor on their platform.

Still waiting for mushrooms...
We followed the directions when we planted them and got nothing the first season. According to the instructions you may have to wait longer so we are! I will change the rating on this product based on future success or failure!

Success! 5 morels in 2 days so far!!!
Made 2- 30' raised beds last Fall. Beds: sandy loam, gypsum, Lyme, black med. coarse wood mulch, western bark, partially burnt oak chunks, straw, wood ash, fallen maple leaves, coffee grounds. Beds about 12" tall. Turned the soil 3 times after breaking the spore kit into various size chunks. I placed several cinder blocks on top of the Beds. 2 of the 5 morels grew inside the cinder blocks. I did buy some other sawdust spawn from Marky Mark's on Amazon, made a spore slurry with 3 of those and dumped the slurry all over the Beds. There appears to be 2 maybe 3 different strains, so I believe we're viable. Yes, it's important you get a viable product, but it's equally important your soil contents are morel friendly as the above list is. I have about $400 invested in the 2 raised beds, but believe once well established, they'll yield much more. Everything I did, I found online. Also, watched all the YouTube videos about growing morels, spore slurries, soil PH, and raised beds.

Better things out there
Just a thin packet with supposed morel spores. Included substrate is less than 1 oz, poor value and quality for price, could be a scam, but will follow instructions and see...

Exceeded my expectation and had morels in no time.
Great product! I bought 3 of these to put on my land that I have. They come as basically a little brick sized clump of dirt. I followed the instructions and let them rest in my refrigerator for about a week before planting. I found two spots near where the water runs on my land and that were a little different from each other and tilled the soil up. sprinkled 1 and a half of the blocks in each spot. After sprinkling them in the fresh tilled dirt I took a hoe and moved the dirt around to mix it in. After that I covered the soil in a layer of cow manure and compost that I bought at lowes. Then on top of that I bagged my lawn when mowing and threw a layer of grass clippings on top. Came back a week later after a rain storm and there was one baby morel that had already popped! I couldn't believe it. This is the end of September in Missouri and I had a morel! The description said it could take up to two years to see morels so I am beyond impressed. I look forward to check back soon in hopes of more!
