Has anyone used it for thicker book? (Bible)

I had tried a much bigger cook book on it and I don’t like that the holder left an oily (wood stain material) stain on the part of the page resting on it, moreover since the edges of the holder are not smooth, it mangled the part of the page coming in contact with it; not to mention it felt like the holder didn’t feel sturdy, it felt as if the book was about to topple over any minute.
