Must have for any lovers of hyper-local history
All around interesting. I read this on a flight back to the lovely city of Chicago and although there were many facts that locals are probably familiar with (Essanay Studios history; Cycle and Saddle murder), there were several items that I didn't know about, such as the local ghost stories surrounding the local cemeteries and the Lincoln burial reenactment. The end of the book was also fascinating - learning about the history of the street names.Details on the history of Kenmore Street, as well as the former hotels in the area rounded out the book. The pieces about the formation of "Chinatown North" were also particularly informative.

Great if you live in the Northside of Chicago
great book of the history of Chicagos Uptown and Edgewater neighborhood. I gave this as a gift and the person really loved reading it. We live in the edgewater neighborhood so it was nice to read about the hidden history of the hood.

If you grew up in Uptown This a very eye opening history that you never hear about....
Wish there was more on the sixties and Seventies about the transitions that have happened in Uptownduring these two decades...
