Review: Hip Dysplasia Help - Long detailed review because I know how important our pups are to us! Strongly recommend this vitamin!! Background: my dog is 5 was diagnosed with hip dysplasia in February and takes prescribed anti-inflammatories daily. He’s an ACD and enjoyed being active until issues started. Issues: mild stiffness in both hips & his hip will pop occasionally if he twists/turns too quickly. Sleeping a lot and reluctant to go outside and completely uninterested in playing fetch. He normally asks to go outside but stopped completely when issues started, even when taking the anti-inflammatories. Not sure if it was just pain or maybe a little depression but instead of laying/napping on couch with me he would hide and nap in his quiet den spot in bedroom alone. Results only weeks after starting this vitamin: he’s sleeping less and wants to go outside and walk and play fetch again. After one week he started ringing his bells on doorknob to ask to go outside and go for walk. Today, now several weeks on vitamin, he got mad I wasn’t fast enough after the bell ring so he tracked me down and barked at me and pushed me to the door. Last time he was that excited for a walk was almost a year ago. I’ve noticed his movement is much more fluid. I’m still following veterinary directions with frequency/duration of exercise so I can only speak for mild daily activity of 20 minutes walking everyday. I’m also careful with fetch games I make sure he doesn’t have to turn/twist to catch. Side effects: he had gas at first and hates the taste. So I broke it up and mixed it with a little bit of fatty fragrant food like an egg or unsalted salmon. Mayo works too in a pinch I’ll mix his kibble with a little bit and then mix in pill pieces. He doesn’t like peanut butter but I imagine that would be great way for others. This fixed reluctancy to eat & the horrific smelling farts. I made sure I followed directions starting out with smaller dose. He had some runny stools at first but week two they were back to normal. Hope this review helps someone. Wish I would have bought this from the start. It warms my heart to see him happier & enjoying activities again! His general comfort has improved which improved his mood. Review: Yes - My Maltipoo was having some hip pain and after a deep dive with Grok, she recommended this product, she’s super picky so I mix it into her food it crushes easily and she licks her food bowl clean so I think she enjoys the taste when it’s mixed with dog food. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: Bottle says "available only from vet".  How is this being sold via Amazon?  Is it a knock-off?**
A: My vet reported that, "You can purchase Dasuquin on Amazon that appears to be supplied by Nutramax, but Nutramax confirmed they do not supply Amazon with their product, so its origin is unclear."  I was especially interested as my dog seemed to develop a skin reaction after taking my Amazon-purchased Dasequin.  I plan to investigate with Amazon how they can ensure the safety of this product if Nutramax says they do not supply them with it.

**Q: I've read the ingredients and don't know enough about them to tell the difference between the cosequin ds +msm and the dasuquin. Can you help me?**
A: I've never used the Cosequin brand for my dog so I will give a comparison between the Dasuquin and the Dasuquin with MSM. My dog started limping badly and was diagnosed with x-rays as having arthritis in his shoulder. I started him on the "regular" Dasuquin for 2 bottles. It made a big difference for him, going from a full limp which was hard to watch, to a slight limp. Then I tried the Dasuquin with MSM next and wow, what a world of difference. He has not had a limp AT ALL after the first 2 or 3 weeks and he's now on his 4th bottle. Limp free, and since I have arthritis in my hands and know the pain, limp free to me means pain free. I will not change brands and take a chance on anything else. It's Dasuquin with MSM only. My dog weighs 40 pounds so I gave him the 2 tablets/day dose. I've maintained that dose, not going down to the 1 tablet/day maintenance level. Once in a while I've give him 1 tab/day but don't want to take any chances with reducing what works for him. I see absolutely no reason to change brands or dosage. Don't change what works is my motto.

**Q: What is the size of this**
A: It's for large dogs it's the size for a quarter but it is chewable.  My bull dog loves them.  I throw it right in his food bowl for breakfast.

**Q: I'm looking for dasuquin advanced. what is the difference and why doesn't amazon carry it i wonder ?**
A: I do not know. I did not know there was an advanced version.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Effective joint supplement for small dogs.

Our pups are 8 years old, and we've been using Dasuquin for over a year per our vet's recommendation. We found that the soft Dasuquin chews caused our beagle to experience an upset stomach. We have switched to the chewable tablets, and she seems to have less stomach irritation. Both our pups take 1/2 tablet per day with ease. They both seem to have more energy and are eager to go on walks. I assume they are experiencing less pain given their playfulness and ease of movement. The tablets are a little hard to break in half; I use a knife. Apparently, the tablets taste good as they both take them without issue.
