very happy
To start. They came over night, box undamaged. The 6 were in 1 box. 1 was really damaged. The use a staple gun to put together and the armes staple bent on both legs not catching the arm but it was in the box. I straitend it out and placed the arm proper and drove it in. After that I drove all the staples in more till could see tip on bottom. There was also a staple holding arm in place for shipping I pulled removed arm and replaced to tie a heavy string on to keep from dragging off. With a bit of fixin and ajusting U can't beat the price and yes they are heavy duty and had to set. Be mindfuul of fingers and like a gun always stay behind it. If needed I would buy again.

7” x 3 3/4” - Heavy Duty and Strong Spring
Along with the move to rural Texas came a host of vermin who wanted to take up residence in my shop and home. After encountering a rat squatter in my shop I went looking for the largest name brand mouse/rat traps I could find and decided on these Victor traps. These are the same style traps that pest removal companies use, my fixer-upper home came with an identical lookin Orkin branded trap in the added, with a mummified squirrel along with it.These type traps have been around forever and work. Setting them is not difficult and they can be used with or without bait. Peanut butter is a go to bait as mice and rats like it, it’s cheap, and sticks to the trigger plate making it less likely the varmint will make off with the bait untouched. The trap measures just under 7” long by 3 3/4” wide and the wood base is 1/2” thick. The wood base is untreated so if left out in the rain the wood would be damaged and the metal spring would rust. That’s about all I can say about a rat 🐀 trap 🪤.PS: I don’t enjoy eradicating these creatures, but they are super destructive and leave messes everywhere.

THESE BABIES WORKKK!!!
These work so good!! I thought I only had 1 or 2 rats. I've had these a week and have got 5 so far!! They've put them all down instantly except one which unfortunately got away. I wanted these so it would be painless for them.Do not under any circumstances get these near your fingers and cut up pop box or something to put under the trap because it stains the floors once it gets them. They come down with so much force 2 out of the times it's flipped the trap with the rat on it so be wary of your fingers and other animals! These were worth the money BUT they took over a week to get here. I still recommend tho!

Inexpensive and effective
THey don't last long. THey are cheaply made and the staples will come out after a couple of activations. They should either use a denser wood for the base or have a through the wood fastener used for assembly. They are inexpensive and because of that disposable...

So unbelievably difficult to use
I've never really felt driven to write a bad review until now...I have used Victor traps many times over the years, and I've never had a reason to complain - they worked. Why build a better mousetrap, right?Well, it seems it's easier to build a WORSE mousetrap - you simply replace a well-functioning piece, with one that doesn't work.To explain, the 'original' traps you set by pulling back the spring loaded arm, positioning the locking bar over it and into a small divot on the bait holder - all of these were formed metal pieces. The rat would stroll over, see the bait and try to eat it. SNAP! No more rat. The reason why it worked so well, is because it took a bit of messing around with the bait holder to spring it. Occasionally, the bait would be gone, and the trap would still be set. But that's usually because of the loader, not the trap. It was sensitive ENOUGH.Now, the bait holder is a flat plastic piece that (I guess) doesn't need bait because the slightest movement sets it off (if you can even get it set in the first place). I bought a pack of 5 and 1 out of the box was completely worthless and couldn't be set.The rest of them? I got them set - finally. I estimate, setting each trap took me 5 attempts before I could walk away from them. The 'trigger' is so sensitive that the slightest movement activates the trap in your hand. And these are RAT TRAPS. If your finger is in the wrong spot just one time, you're heading to the hospital.I tried to set them baited. SNAP! I tried to set them unbaited. SNAP! I tried to place them down ever so gently. SNAP! I tried to set them already in place. SNAP! I tried to set them on the ground, and then lightly push them into place. SNAP!After 30 minutes I finally got them all set. What a complete pain. Oh, guess what? I bet you know what I'm going to say next. So, here it comes... Next day, all triggered and upside-down - NO RAT.Unbelievable.Do yourself a favor and buy something else. These traps are by far the very worst design I have ever seen. Next time I'll buy that board game 'MouseTrap'. I'm certain it'll work better than these traps.

Too bad many traps are defective
So far I purchased 24 traps but many of them were defective units. Today I purchased 6 more and maybe at east 3 of them will work. From all the 24 traps, some snapped with no rat around and dismantled, making them unusable, some snapped wounding the rat (because I found blood) and dismantled, and on the last 6 I had to use pliers to adjust them because they would snap in my hand while setting them. But when they work, THEY WORK! I have no complain whatsoever about the traps that weren't defective, their performance is AMAZING!Why are defective: the wood is too soft and because the tension is too high, the copper wires pop out of place. Maybe instead of a "U" shaped wire, a "Ω" (Omega) shape with the wire protruding through the whole thickness of the wood would be more appropriate and more effective. That being said, trying to get rid of a few rats on my own is rather expensive.

Follow directions for correctly setting the traps.
The traps worked great, three rats trapped the first time I set them! What worked was baiting the traps with peanut butter for a couple of nights without setting the trap. After the rats were used to the traps and eating the bait off, the third night, I set the traps and voila! Within an hour or so, 3 rats were eliminated from our barn. Rats are shy of new things and smart, so it pays to be strategic.

Best snap trap available in UK market
I am using these ones for las 2 years. They do work perfectly- but please note- you shall put a lot f them in one area.It happened once with me that big rat did trigger 3 rat traps in a row- and only third one did catch it!

Can't set!!
Could not set any of these traps no matter how hard I tried. Caught my thumb and bruised it badly. Total waste of money and the rats are running wild.

Victor M205 (not M205R) rat trap.
As said in other reviews get the M205 not the M205R. Even the M205 spring tends to bend after 7 or 8 goes so get the 12 pack. You'll see the paths the rodents make. I've found putting 2 traps together side-by-side with springs in opposing orientations across the run works. Put loads down and you'll get them. No bait required. I've taken over 40 out in the past week alone. Very effective traps.
