Odyssey KDJC3BL Black Krom DJ Controller Carrying Case

The case looks really clean. The all black everything is more appealing to me then shiny chrome everywhere. Overall I am giving it 4 stars because the price, 129 at the time of this review, is really good for something like this. There is however a discernable difference between something like this, which is a budget case, and something actually designed to be toured with. All of the metal isn't nearly as robust as a true ATA case. The wood is a little thinner and the black plastic is of a thinner stock as well. The interior is wrapped in pretty standard grade speaker carpeting and the foam insert that holds your gear in place is a little thin. All things that don't matter much if you're handy and dont mind making a few modifications, for a few bucks more, to better suit your needs. In the future when the money is a little more abundant I will invest a little more for a true ATA case since I DJ 100 plus events a year. This will definitely serve its purpose for the time being. I do also like that there is plenty of space for you to work with inside. It comes with a removeable angled platform, made of wood I believe, wrapped in speaker carpet that elevates your controller at a bit of an angle so that you can store cords, headphones, adapters, cd's, even a small 2 channel mic mixer underneath it. The packaging does leave a lot to be desired. It's merely a box with the case inside, wrapped in a single layer of bubble wrap and a thin piece of paper. My unit had obviously been dropped, twice apparently given the 2 dents in the angle metal. It caused a little deformation along the hinged edge, but I really need this case for my next 2 events so I don't have time to exchange it. Aside from that there's a single spring handle on the latch side for carrying it and 2 small butterfly latches that lock it closed pretty well. The hinges are a little thin, given that the lid is removeable we shall see how they hold up. There are rubber feet on the lid so that you can use it as a base to elevate your controller higher and the base stacks nicely on top of the aforementioned lid. Overall I'm happy with the product ,given its price point I got more than I expected, but less than what I had hoped for. Good hunting fellow dj's.

okay for it's price but not so good on the road as much as dj work

Four months of traveling and carrying this case through many flights, I'd say its strong and protects the controller inside but all the screws holding the notches together are coming off and making the case useless because the two parts of the case can no longer attach. It was good while it lasted. Now its my main base for my controller at home and doesn't leave the house any more.

The velcro didn't stay on the dr equipment. But it's a solid case.
