Coffee for Coffee Lovers! I've bought Sumatra coffee since 1999. It's rich and dark. I've made it in coffeemakers, French presses, and pour overs for flavor and strength control (other coffees quite simply, disappoint!). This recent order arrived and I opened it up: the beans are shiny and freshly roasted, then I made a cup (2:30 p.m.) I may get to bed late tonight, but this is a treat that is worth it. So I saw the Dark Sumatra Mandheling, and figured I would give it a try. It is a fine coffee which is a darker roast, full body and low on acidity. It makes a fine morning brew that satisfies my taste buds. Now, I have been a CoffeBean Direct customer for many years. They have many options of varied coffee that is fresh roasted. What attracted me to buying from Amazon is the (3) individual 16 oz bag package which CBD does not offer. It is real convenient for fresh storage as the 16 oz fits perfectly in my coffee canister. Also, CBD offers their beans in 16 oz, 2.5 & 5lbs. The 2.5lb package is $32 and 3lbs from Amazon is $30. Factor in shipping with Prime & you are saving $5 for 8oz more beans. I really do like these coffee beans. The coffee is flavorful and delish! They are a very good value. I have it on Subscribe and Save which helps to reduce the price. I mix chicory (2-1 - coffee to chickory) in with the ground coffee. Frontier Natural Products Organic Roasted Chicory Root Granules is available on Amazon. This dark roast coffee is low in acid and the chicory adds a smooth taste and robustness without extra calories. It has a rich chocolatey undertone. Chicory is also good for you. According to Web M.D. " Chicory is a plant. Its roots and dried, above-ground parts are used to make medicine. Chicory is used for loss of appetite, upset stomach, constipation, liver and gallbladder disorders, cancer, and rapid heartbeat. It is also used as a “tonic,” to increase urine production, to protect the liver, and to balance the stimulant effect of coffee". Okay everybody, this is my absolute favorite coffee. For the price, this is probably the most luxurious coffee that you can get. It is dark and rich, smells amazing, and tastes very smooth. There is absolutely zero bitterness. My only complaint is with the 5lb packaging. It is hard to open, and isn't resealable. This is a good thing if you are shipping coffee all over the world, but the fact that it isn't resealable makes it a pain in the butt if you are living out of a foot locker in Afghanistan and trying to keep 5 lbs of coffee fresh. The fact that this stuff smells so amazing in my french press and anybody that walks by is trying to score some from me makes it not last as long so it hasn't been too much of a worry. Open with a knife, roll down the top, and gorilla tape shut and all is good in the world. This coffee is life changing!
