Something inside it drive my Boxer pup to tear it to shreds one night. It is memory foam, and so it arrived vacuum packed. I'm not sure how long it took to fully expand, as I opened it and left the house for the evening. By the time I got home, it was ready for my dog to enjoy. My dog has a thing for new beds where she usually tears out the stuffing within 24 hours of getting the bed, but I've had this one for a day now and she hasn't torn it up. I don't think she could tear through it if she tried. It is much more durable than the other beds I've bought. I also like that the cover can be taken off and washed separately than the stuffing. Another plus is that the fabric is waterproof to protect the stuffing. One side is a brown almost satiny fabric, with some texture from the pattern. The other side is a black velvet type upholstry fabric.The size is perfect for her, maybe a bit big. She weighs almost 30lbs. I've posted a picture so you can see how she fits.
