I'm working a project to sends 114 byte data packet to a display. The first one I made was working fine with Sabrent FTDI cable. I built a second system/display, I used a no-name FTDI cable, but was displaying incorrect data. I can't explain why, it wasn't noise and the bad data was consistent. Ordered a 2nd Sabrent cable, display is now work fine.Bottom line, if you have a project that isn't working right, and you are using a different mfg's cable, try one of the Sabrent!

I originally purchased this to use with a Microtech ECU.... they had a specific cable to connect from the serial interface of the ECU to a software on the laptop.It operates at a low baud rate and this unit wasn't able to match that baud rate and as such the ECU would just drop connection in 2 seconds or so.As with any ancient interface products.... YMMV honestly. The product itself was easy to setup, but getting it working can be a hassle depending on your application.

I have three of these in service... and have never had the slightest complaint with their operation. No special driver to install. Solid plug-and-play performance. Recommended without reservation.These cost a bit more than some of the alternatives - and a lot less than others. Solid FTDI chipset performance and reliability.

I've worked with some computers that used a serial port for the system console. You'd take a laptop, and use the serial port (with a null modem cable, etc.) and use a terminal emulator (PuTTY, SecureCRT, etc.) with the serial port. As newer laptops no longer included serial ports, I picked this up so that I could continue to access these older computers. Works well.

I purchased this item (CB-FTDI) from Sabrent's outlet store here on Amazon (seller SBT-OUTLET). It was listed as used/"like new". The cable was faulty and only worked in one direction. I suspect (since it's not the first issue I have had issues with SBT-OUTLET) that it was previously returned to them due to this defect and they just resold it without testing which is very poor. I contacted SBT-OUTLET via Amazon messaging, they said they were going to send a replacement but they never did and they then stopped communicating.I purchased a replacement, new, sold by Amazon and it worked fine.
