Lonely Planet Mallorca (Travel Guide)

Came very late but in plenty of time. Aside from great recommendations for restaurants, sights, accommodations, etc. but what is really live is for each area, they’ve mapped out walks with interesting sights and travel time. So cool!

I was surprised how little info there is for anywhere outside of Palma. In addition, there are no hotel/accommodation recommendations in this book (apart from a couple in the intro, where it specifically says to see the on the road chapters for more - I scanned the whole book and couldn’t find any). The research/writing doesn’t even attempt to appear thorough, with several town just mentioning things along the lines of “there are a lot of overpriced tourist restaurants with some exceptions” but failing to actually give the info. I’m a long time user of lonely planet guides for travel, but this one doesn’t really offer any added value beyond what you would find in a quick internet search. Super disappointing.

What is the deal here? How can you produce a guide book with virtually no hotel reviews! There are two pages with brief mentions of a handful of places and it says look for more recommendations in the detailed “on the road” chapters. Not a word! I realize Trip Advisor is killing guide books but this is crazy. Certainly makes me not want to get a Lonely Planet Guide again. Very disappointed.

As with all these guides, the maps could be improved.

Quite a compact guide.I'm going to Cala D'Or and it only has 1 page!In fairness, it only merited 1 page
