I’ve always used the foam type but two issues made me try something different; 1 the foam plugs can be time consuming to insert correctly, and 2 they block everything so I can’t hear my helmet speakers. The Alpine earplugs do a pretty good job of cutting wind noise, but still allow me to hear music in the background and make a phone call if necessary. They don’t hurt my ears, are easy to insert and remove, and the center stems don’t stick out and rub against my helmet lining. I use the “tour” type and they work well for me. I did notice I can hear the helmet speakers better in my Shoei helmet than my older Bell Star. The Bell has ton of vents and is not known as a quiet helmet, so no surprise there. I was impressed with the Alpine MotoSafe plugs enough that I ordered a second pair for backup and/or passenger use. I accidentally ordered the “race” type but I haven’t tried them yet to see how different they are. My daughter wore them for several hours on a ride with me and had no complaints. They seemed to be good quality, and I tried them for a few minutes, but the Alpines just fit and worked better for me, so I returned the Earos. It also doesnt feel too quiet if that makes sense. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Choose wisely, good quality. *by J***H on April 15, 2026* I don't like to give less than optimal ratings but these didn't really perform how I thought they would. They absolutely do cut down on noise while allowing you to hear, and they're very comfortable! The little case they come is is very nice also. I have a Honda Cb500x with a moderately noisy exhaust, and without earplugs, the noise is not bad inside of your helmet. With these earplugs however the exhaust noise becomes almost unbearable inside my helmet, it feels much louder than it actually is. I'm not sure if it's my helmet or something else, but because of my exhaust these are unusable both the red and black models. All of that said, they do have a plus! I wore them to a fairly heavy music concert and they did excellent! The decibels were definitely reduced to a comfortable level, and sound was still pretty clear- much better than foam earplugs!
