What a Difference
I was using cheap Irwin snap lines for 7 years now, and finally got tired of them. With this Tajima I was amazed as soon as I opened the case. You can feel the quality in your hand. Aluminum case will hold up worlds better than plastic. When not using, the fill cap has a nice "latch" that the end hooks onto securely when not using and WILL NOT come off. I can't tell you how many times my Irwin would get pinched under a tool in my toolbag, and when I went to grab it 10' of line would be unwound and chalk on some of my tools. It winds up smoothly and has a line lock so if your arms can span it, you can snap it with your free hand. The fill cap is just a 1/4 turn, and has a nice rubber o-ring to help keep out moisture. The line is a thin braided line and produces a great line every time. No more lines that are 1/8" thick with excess chalk everywhere. I've never thought a chalk line was much of a tool until this Tajima showed me that they actually have "features". Make sure you buy extra Tajima chalk right away, as the bottle that comes with is only 1.4oz. However the small bottle comes in handy as it is much easier to carry around.

Very Fine Line/Chalkbox
This Tajima is very nice, has a lock to prevent it from unreeling and quick fill spout to put chalk in, I like that when you snap the line on any surface it leaves the line and not a mess, however since it is a fine line I wouldn’t use this with something I need to cut as the line is very fine and thin for example I snap a line on plywood that I need to cut my blade is thicker than this line.

Great chalk line
After using an old, ratty, wide string chalk line for my entire life, I finally spent some money on a good chalk line. The difference is night and day. This puts out the perfect line for crown molding or whatever else you are doing. It's sharp and clean. The line is fine, but not hard to grab like some reviewers stated. Zero complaints.

Snap happy so far
So far, I'm happy with this chalk line. It creates a very nice, small, crisp line. I find that very little chalk comes out of the box while pulling the line out. The line lock works well and I haven't found it to get in the way or accidentally be engaged. The supplied chalk bottle is enough for your first fill up only. I have only used it for a few lines on horizontal surfaces. For these is has worked well. I haven't used on a wall yet, but I can see that there is the great possibility of line sag because the line is so thin and somewhat elastic. I expect to have to snap walls in short runs.

An exceptional tool that brings the tried and true chalk line into the modern era.
Chalk box has always been one of my favorite tools, a rock and a string that has been around since ancient times and is perfectly accurate all the time. Tajima refines the rock and a string concept into a very fine product. A very rugged aluminum case holds up to the rigors of daily job site use, the gear train rewind retracts the string very quickly and a very well designed and rugged hook works exceptionally well. Couple that with the fine, yet strong string and the very fine chalk (which you must use for this product) you get very fine, yet very visible lines. The Tajima is a great upgrade from the rather unrefined Straitline brand chalk box.

Best chalk box on the market.
The best chalk box out there. If you need a tight crisp line this is what you want. After doing a layout job on a new construction site where I coworker had one I NEEDED to buy one for myself. The ultra thin line is perfect when you are working in tight tolerances and so far has held up to abuse in industrial settings.
