Misleading keyway standard and lack of documentation - Does NOT fit Starlock tools; requires specific Starlock Max tools.
Does NOT fit Starlock tools; requires specific Starlock Max tools. This may seem obvious to some but it was not to me despite having tried to clarify BEFORE I ordered this blade. The shapes of the 3 keyway standards: Starlock, Starlock Plus, and Starlock Max are similar enough that it appears some interchangeability is possible. Web searchers for the differences between the 3 and resulted in an article that focuses on the 'backward compatibility' aspect to the 3 varieties of StarLock but also seems to imply there can be interchange between them. Nothing on the Starlock vs Starlock Max keyway interface clearly indicates they would be incompatible, since the Max variety seems to be a subset of the base variety. But it doesn't fit. The round shank on the base Starlock tools (such as the Bosch GOP40-30C StarlockPlus kit's tool) is wider than the hold on the Starlock Max blade -so you cannot mount the blade to the tool.I understand this serves a purpose - to prevent the wrong blades being attached that can cause a hazard or damage the tool. Such a longer blade would require more torque from the tool, for example. But an interface design that is less misleading would really help here Fein (the patent/trademark owners on Starlock).
