Tops
I make a bunch of tops on my lathe as gifts for kids. The wood is gorgeous and the perfect size. Throw a 2 1/2' length in your 4 jaw chuck and away ya go.Be sure to burnish the tip.

Ends splinter free and gently sealed. 7lbs 5 oz for my 18" purchase or roughly 44lbs per cu/ft.
