Great for a body perm.

I have used this product once a year for the last 5 years, with satisfied results. However, a week ago, I did the same. I spent 3 hours giving myself this perm. There were absolutely no results. I was very disappointed. I continued to think about what could have gone wrong. Then, it occurred to me that the only thing different from previous perms, was the shampoo I had been using. It contained rosemary, peppermint and coconut oil. Although I had read every word and detail on the instructions sheet, there was no mention of that causing a failed perm. I went online and discovered that those oils in a shampoo form a barrier on hair blocking the perm solution from penetrating. I called customer service to inform them of my experience. The customer service person had absolutely no interest in the situation.

This works very well as I per my own hair once in a while, I would not use it often as it does dry out the hair, but it gives my hair lots of body

I bought this product to do a diy reverse (straight perm) as my hair is naturally wavy. I recalled doing this once in my teen years and it going very well, and loving the results. But, I guess results and luck don't always repeat themselves. This product states it is safe for colored hair; however, upon application of this product, almost immediately my hair stated to frizz up. I hurried and rinsed it out right away (within the first 2 minutes), but the damage was already done. Upon rinsing, I felt my hair swell and the texture felt very strange. After getting out of the shower, I was scared to see the damage, and rightfully so. I gently started to comb my hair from the bottom up, with a wide tooth comb. To my dismay, large chunks of my hair began to come with it. A lot of my hair that didn't come out, coiled up, and became frizzy. I was horrified and felt so disappointed, dismayed, and shocked. The damage was nearly immediate from this product, and I have been desperately trying to regain my hairs integrity ever since. I would not recommend this product whatsoever. I had to cut my own hair, add some side bangs, have lost length, and have some short layers that broke off. I have spent both a lot of money and time buying products and researching how to heal my remaining hair. Thankfully, I had very thick, coarse (tough) hair or I might not have any left. I have been using Olaplex 3, have done one Aphogee treatment, am using oils and leave in conditioners in my hair. The Olaplex 3 has helped the most. In the future, I am switching to demi permanent color, and using a very low activator, so there's no lift taking place. Sadly, the only real cure has been to cut away the most damaged sections. My warning to you would be not to use this if you have ever done anything to your hair, and you don't have virgin hair- even then, I am not sure it is worth the risk. I have felt so disappointed and discouraged but am thankful for products like Olaplex 3. It has been one of the few things that makes my hair even somewhat manageable now.

I just received the perm and I could smell the product before opening so I knew it leaked. Upon opening every cap was loose, the papers and instructions were wet as well. I will attempt to use the product but not sure if the papers are too wet and whether the product will be enough to take effect.

It works very well. My mom’s hair is very fine and soft, and the perm turned out amazingly well.

I was a hairdresser many years ago, so I have used many different perms. I used this one for tinted hair on myself and I can honestly say it's one of the best perms I have ever used. The condition of my hair, even before I used the leave in conditioner felt really good, and the curls soft and bouncy. It's now going to be my regular perm. I can't recommend it enough.
