App wants all the data on your phone.
The app wants all of your phone's information, including browsing history, contacts, control of your camera and microphone, etc. This is completely unwarranted for an app that switches a plug on and off, and indeed the other big smart plug apps don't require such permissions. If you don't want to turn over all the data on your phone to these people for who knows what purposes, go with another brand.

Works great, simple to setup if you do your home work.
While all the reviews say it's a challenge to setup, I did not find that at all. 1st, sit down and resist doing ANYTHING before you read the entire instructions and then re-read. Download the Tuya app before you even begin the install. I did it before Amazon delivered the units so I would have it.Super simple to setup, you need your wifi password (it figures out your Wifi access point from your phone). I thought i had hit a snag because I tried to configure them without any load attached to them. I found out that you have to have a light attached and turned on (or switched on) or the app won't be able to confirm a switch on/off test and it fails. Once I figured it out, you basically just plug in a lamp, put the smartplug into the wall and the light will start to flash blue. That's not what you want, you want to press and hold the reset button until it flashes red/blue rapidly. You can then go into the Tuya app, enter either your email or phone number (it will send you a text to confirm), then you hit the + button to add the device. If you have not yet entered your wifi password, you will be prompted to do that now, which it will save. Then it will start to look for the plug and within 30 seconds the real light will switch on and off real fast. If it does not, then go back to step one. Once it finds it, it will assign some reasonable standard name to the plug, which if you want to control via Tuya or Alexa you should rename to something real like Floor Lamp. You then add the Tuya Alexa skill via the Alexa app and the app will automatically ask you to do a discover. As if by magic, you can now control the light via the app or just saying 'Alexa turn the Floor Lamp On' If you have multiple lights, you can group them together in a group like Family Room, once grouped you can say, "Alexa turn the Family Room Lights Off" and all that are in that group turn off or on. Very cool.I have even created a custom SmartHome Skill in the Alexa app that I've connected the lights, my Harmony Elite controlled TV, Cable box etc together. Problem is that the scene can only be triggered by an on/off command as well. I wanted to say just "Alexa Goodnight" but it would not accept that. Then without changing anything I said 'Alexa turn Goodnight off' and again, as if by magic, the lights turned off, the TV turned off and the cable box turned off. I'm sure I'll think of another noun that works with the on/off structure. But for now, It does integrate with not only the app but multiple Alexa devices that have the on/off capabilities. What I haven't figured out is what a 'Conditional Scene' is in the Tuya app. I thought that would do it but it seems that an Alexa command is not a valid condition. A condition seems to be another device that goes on which then triggers other actions. I need to play with that more but there is no documentation I can find on what can be used as a condition. But you can tie any discovered devices to take any action on, like (on this condition) turn on this light, turn off that light, lower the blinds, etc. But for just fast initial unboxing to working with the app and Alexa was under 15 minutes for both switches.I'll report back on what seems to be a mortality rate, but so far both of these are working fine and very quiet, a very silent click.Oh and a side piece of information. Yes, they do nicely sit next to each other on a wall outlet, but power strips are placed closer together in sockets. You can't put two of these next to each other in a normal 6-8 gang power strip or power block. They fit perfectly in the space allocated for the wall gap between the sockets but not in in a strip. But a short 6" 3 prong extender can fix that very quickly and Amazon sells them in multi-packs.

Turn those inside house decorations on and off with Alexa!
I bought (2) pair of these switches to use as a cheaper alternative to the brand I picked a few years ago for my smart home. Each one of those is more than a pair of these. I was hoping to save my wife a few steps, holidays are here and she plugs in multiple items for Halloween and Christmas. Nothing more fun than wondering if the Skull decoration is still on when you are drifting off to sleep. I was so happy with the effortless setup and Alexa integration, I purchased another pair to finish out the Halloween decorations. "Alexa, turn on the Decorations" and boom, they come on. After she came home from a week at her Mom and Dad's, she was happy with the results. But then she pointed out two that I missed. Ugh. So, just oredered another pair. 8 total devices that go on and off with one simple voice command. I have not explored the full functionality of these switches, but the app is simple and clean. I have read that there are timer functions which I could use to trigger automatically, but It's more fun to use Alexa.. :-)Update: Halloween is gone, the decorations put away.. but Christmas is on the way. The Missus has all the decorations up.. and I bought another pair. 10 total switches, very reliable and, like the other 8, just as easy to setup. Alexa rocks with these Laneco switches.

Poorly written directions, but...
Trying to follow the directions, to add this to my smart home, was not easy. First of all, the directions don't tell you that the app in NOT in the Apple Store apps for the iPad, which was the first hurtle. So, after trying to locate the app many times, with many spellings, I looked on Amazon to see if anyone else had the same problem. They did, and no one had answered them, except one person who said it was in there! Not helpful, BTW. I finally remembered that some apps in the Apple store don’t show up unless you are looking through the iPhone apps, too! Bingo! The app is in the iPhone apps! So, I went back into Amazon to tell my fellow searcher how to locate the app! And, if you are reading this and you are using the iPad, you need to switch the filter in the App Store to search for the iPhone app. Then the app will pop right up after you type it into the search. After locating and downloading the app, I needed to register the plugs with Laneco, etc. and add it to "my devises" in the Alexa app so that Alexa could also operate them. That wasn’t explained very well, either. The directions got into adding the Alexa devises, etc. and were confusing, at least they were to my mind at 3 AM.I finally got it registered and added it to my Alexa app, but I still can’t figure out how to change the names of the plugs, or how to set the plugs up to turn on and off automatically at times I choose. I sent feedback to the app developers asking for better directions. I'm now hoping for a well worded reply. In all, the directions that accompanied the plugs were not written by a native English speaker, which, I believe, was part of the problem. And they weren’t written in an easy to follow manner. So, after all the searching, and fumbling, I finally CAN turn the plugs on and off using Alexa or the apps, but I can’t rename them or set up a program. My Phillips Hue lights were a piece of cake to set up. These were not. But, they seem to work okay. I just want better directions, please!Update: I received an email the day after I wrote my review, telling me how to change the names, but, I can't find the place I was told to go to. However, while trying, I clicked on the arrow next to the plug name, and it brought me to a page where I could make a schedule. So, I did. It was easy to do. You just have to remember to hit the save button before going back to set the next time. If you have trouble finding it, or setting it up, give me a reply and I’ll give you a step by step. I was a computer teacher, and as part of my job, I wrote MANY instruction manuals for the computer phobics, so I’ll be happy to help out, if I can.
