(Updated review:) I am changing my review to 5 stars as after correspondence with MaxpeedingRods and going through their checks they have stood up and done what’s right and stood behind their product by replacing our Generator. I believe that there was a fluke issue with the original one and it originally worked 100% only to later loose the electronic start function. I have no reason to believe that this is a systemic issue and think that it was just our luck of the draw to have that issue. The new generator works flawlessly. When a company like MaxpeedingRods stands behind their product we can tell that they are a company that we would like to continue to do business with and recommend their products to our family and friends. For full disclosure I paid for the first generator out of pocket full price and with the issue and going through their resolution they replaced it. (Original review for reference:) I am going to say it’s a wonderful product with at this point questionable support. I am going through their support for the last week with limited effective responses. If this changes I will change my review to 5 stars but at this point the electric start has failed and they are sending me thru the same tests multiple times. When it arrived everything worked flawlessly and now only the electronic start functions do not work and I eagerly want a resolution but so far I’m just getting scripted responses from the app at first and now via email. If they help me resolve this it will truly be a quality generator however the support has to stand up and provide true assistance for this to happen. I believe they can if they are willing. We purchased the MaXpeedingrods 4000 watt dual fuel inverter generator in June of 20025 specifically for camping and fill in at home in winter when the power occasionally goes out. The generator had performed fine through the summer and other than being a bit louder than the Honda we also have, it did well through the summer. Now came winter of 2025, we store the generator in the garage that gets down to about 40 degrees when it is below freezing. Our power went out in December and when I went to start the generator the battery was dead. After much research and sweat, I found you are unable to start the generator using the pull cord when there is no electrical power, What good is it, I don't know. So I have spent a lot of time trying to recharge the battery with no success. I have spent even more time tying to find a replacement battery. I still have not been able to contact anyone that can help me. I can see the battery inside the case. I have not tried getting it out, since it looks like it will take some doing. But I can see that it is a very small battery with a specific connection coming out of it that connects to the starting mechanism on the generator. So basically I have a useless generator that has roughly 30 hrs on it. I could pack around a larger battery that would set next to the generator and connect it to make the generator function, but that is definitely not ideal. I would have a much better review if the battery would not have went bad so quickly and then being unable to replace it.

held 2400w straight for an hour without any problems... is silent under 1000w ecomode....but rpm quickly rises past that. the gas cap has to be cracked open to start with the choke but almost start first pull then you can close it. the gas cap gasket was unsecure upon unboxing but stayed in place once put back in place... bluetti charges fine at 2400w with no excessive voltage drop/ but voltage is regularly in the 123v range at higher rpms... wouldnt use sensitive electronics that doesnt have a battery if you got intermittent loads on the same generator. But overall very pleased with the quality. it only ran 4 hours on 3 different occasions so well see in the long run.

This is the second review I have written for this generator. The first concerned a bad design where the pull start would not work if the electric start battery was dead. I posted that after using the generator for just a few weeks, I use the generator at my cabin. It is situated outside, next to a shed, under a cover, open on two sides. It starts but immediately shuts off because of the CO2 sensor. This makes it effectively useless for me. It is outdoors in a covered area. There is no way to disable the CO2 sensor. At a cabin, off grid, the most important feature in a generator is reliability. I cannot recommend this generator. —- First REview: Warning: The generator will NOT start, either via the electric start OR THE RECOIL starter, if the starter battery is dead. It uses an electric choke that requires a charged battery. Also the starter battery WILL NOT HOLD A CHARGE past 3 days if left in standby mode, that is with the master switch on and the Bluetooth waiting. If this happens to you I recommend disconnecting the battery connection inside the generator, using that to connect to an external 12v battery, and “jump starting” the generator.

Price was right for this size of a gen. Make sure you buy it on sale. Has a battery back up so my wife can start it easy as well. The only thing i had a problem with was the fold up handle, one side of where it attaches to the gen broke inside. Still attached but doesnt lock where it should. This happened so after i bought it. Other than that is working good, fairly quiet for the size and the weight is awesome. So far so good, time will tell how it holds up.

I needed a generator for a small off grid cabin to charge up the lithium battery pack and I decided to go with the dual fuel MXR4000GT and it has been great so far. Starts up easily on both gasoline and propane even in cold temperatures. I saw a few people mentioning theirs leaks fuel (user error!) that happens when you fill the tank beyond the red bar at the top of the tank... Due to the unit being compatible with a fuel transfer pump there is an overflow to avoid pressurizing the fuel system. Now the 1.1gallon tank is a bit on the small side and if you are always running it like I am (60-85% load) you will only get 2-3hrs on the fuel tank without the fuel transfer pump addon. But that's why I opted for the dual fuel version so that I can run it on 30lb propane tanks with the same 60-85% load I'm getting around 18hrs per tank. I did the effeciency calculations: 1.1gallons of 91 produced 5.5kwh which is 14.8% effeciency and a 30lb propane tank produced 33.5kwh which is 17.8% effeciency. So definitely better running it on propane. It's also pretty quiet depending on the load with it only getting relatively loud above 2000w. In terms of max power output it will hold 3300w @119v charging batteries on both gasoline or propane at 700ft AMSL pushing even slightly beyond that bogs down the engine before tripping the overload. But as always for longevity continues loads like battery charging should be kept below 85% or ~2700w which this unit does happily. After the 25hr break in period on dyno oil I used amsoil 4 stroke synthetic 10w-30 which made a dramatic difference in cold start performance for those using this unit in cold regions. Overall I'm happy with the unit considering the price and features compared to a 3x as expensive Honda with similar running watts. It comes with a 2 year warranty as well. And weighs just 50lbs so it's easy to move around compared to similar spec generators
