Smart bulb changer
OMG! I am so happy with this suction cup bulb changer!!!! I have 3 alcloves in my hallway and had a huge problem with being able to change the ceiling light bulbs!!! There is absolutely no way I am able to change these light bulbs!!!! I purchased my home 5 years ago and fortunately my grand daughter's friend was able to stand in the alclove, reach up and change my 1st burnt out light bulb (2 years ago). Last month another light bulb burnt out, and I have been stressing over how I was going to change this light bulb! My grand daughter's friend will come and change it, but she has been really busy. So, I have been researching and reading the comments and praying that I would find the right bulb remover.I ordered it yesterday and received it tonight! I used the small suction cup on a pole I had and reached up into the aclove and removed the burnt out bulb and installed the new one!! It was so very easy to remove that small burnt out bulb and insert a new one!!!! Wow!!!!! I highly recommend this item!!!! :-)

Worked but with caveats
While I was able to use this product to remove and replace 2 smaller 60W size floodlights that were about 12 feet high, I had to overcome some challenges. For this size bulb, the blue cup fit best, but I could not get it to suction and stay on the bulb from below so I could safely remove it, even after cleaning the bulb before removal as suggested by others. Because the bulbs are in a can, when I tried to push the cup onto the bulb, the bulb would push up into the ceiling can. However there was enough friction to allow me to unscrew the bulb. Not wanting to drop and break the bulbs (one was a CFL), I used the blue cup to unscrew the bulbs most of the way, and then used the wider, yellow cup to finish unscrewing and lower to the ground - the larger yellow cup allowed me to balance the bulb better than the smaller blue cup even without suction.I was able to get adequate, lasting suction on the new bulb from the ground since I could apply plenty of force with the blue cup (appropriately moistened) so I could safely raise it and screw it in. This certainly beats dragging a ladder in and climbing up in order to perform this work. I would recommend this product for its intended purpose with the caveats I mentioned.

This used to be a 5 Star product
This used to be a 5 Star product that made it hard to release the bulb from the suction cup, but it was doable. I think they loosened the suction so it would release easier. I had 3 bulbs hit the floor and break out of 4 bulbs. One of the three was a new bulb I was trying to replace. I still have two new bulbs to screw in. The 4th bulb (old one) hit the floor but didn't break. This suction cup releases the bulb unless you perfectly balance it. If you tilt it, the bulb will fall down. Trying to make the sections of pole shorter to get the pole short enough to grab the bulb without tilting the pole I found impossible, hence all the broken bulbs. Unless I find an end for the pole that has enough suction to hold the bulb, this product will go into the garbage.

You'll use this kit all over your house!
Recently I replaced my outdoor security light with a hooded fixture that will not allow the use of the conventional spring-loaded 'finger'-type grabber that I have used for 25 years. The largest of the three suction cups in this kit is the PERFECT size to use with my PAR-type floodlights, obviating the need to find secure footing for a very tall ladder. (The largest of the three suction cups can be purchased separately, but the three-pack will take care of everything that you'll ever need to unscrew.) The neatest thing about these bulb changers is that each one has tabs for attaching a length of string, and a gentle tug of the string breaks the seal between the bulb and the suction cup once the installation is complete. The description of the kit did not include any specific size information, but when I contacted the manufacturer's Customer Service department, a very helpful representative actually pulled the product and measured the suction cups for me! She also said that the old bulb should be relatively clean when removed, which is easily accomplished by first using a damp rag on the end of your extension pole. The company also sells extension poles for use with this product, but it adapted easily to the pole that I already had.Updated on 7/7/12:I hadn't planned on using this bulb changer so soon, but a severe storm caused our power to repeatedly flick off and then back on several times before it finally went down. When power was restored, one of my floodlights had been knocked out. I hadn't had time to attach the above-mentioned string to the rubber suction cup, but I just wiped the face of the old bulb with a damp paper towel and dampened the suction cup, and the bulb replacement went off without a hitch--no slipping, no lost suction, no problem getting it to let go. Fantastic!

It works, and is difficult to use.
It works, but not that easy. I use the blue one with a unto 24 feet Mr Longer pole. My ceiling light is about 20 feet high. For regular RB30 recessed light mount, it is relatively easy. The easies park is remove the old bulb. Installing new one need some practice. Put the bulb in center of the cup, push to the centre of the well till you hear a crisp sound. At that point, the build is in place and you can turn. Don't turn too tight. Then lean the pole to some degrees to decouple the cup. This stage need to be careful since some recessed fixtures are not very secure in place. You may pull the whole assembly down if not careful. For eyeball recessed lights, it really painful. The assembly is very flexible and hard to aim. The worst part is eyeball light assembly is fragile, very easy to pull out of place. You have to use longer than needed pole and lean to some degrees to decouple the cup.

Works fine with spot lights
Used the blue bulb(spotlight)changer and it worked fine. Need to ensure that the changer is screwed tightly to extension arm and that there is good suction.I used a very light coat of petroleum jelly on the suction cup and made sure that the pin was not engaged to maintain suction as the burnt bulb was unscrewed or new bulb screwed in.
