I have furry short hair cats. This rake is not suited for cats like mine (desi). I wish this was mentioned in the description.My skinny cat barely gets any hair out when going in the direction of fur. My other cat, who is more hairy, does shed a lot with this brush when going in the direction of fur. When going against it, it's a fur explosion and he hates it.I have tried this w treats and although it worked for a while, it's sadly not a long term solution. They prefer brushes over this. Although, if you have a husky or retriever or a Persian or main coon, this rake will be ideal. It's well made too.

I have 2 Persian cats and removing the dead undercoat was never this easy. One thing to keep in mind is that the hairs keep flying everywhere so you cannot brush your pet with the fan on.

I've got an indie with a double coat that's long in certain places. I tried a Furminator but that took an hour minimum to get through her coat, forget de-matting the bits on her haunches. This rake slid through and it took 15 mins to clear out a huge ball of dead fur. She refused to let me continue after that since the matting on her haunches probably hurt. I guess I'll need to do it 3-4 times a week to make it easier.My lab walked over for a try but it only worked on his haunches a bit. The Furminator suits labs better.Definitely recommend for long-haired pets.

I bought this for my cat but is not really efficient for cats since the gaps are too wide and big for cats fur. It barely catches cats fur, so I suggest to not buy for your furry cats. Would be great for dogs instead.

I have used many products in my 2+ decades of sharing my life with dogs. However, this de-tangler is really good. It doesn't hurt the skin. However, its important to maintain proper coat condition in order to get the best out of this de-tangler, else using such product is a NO, as it may hurt your dog.
