For decoration, yes. If used for an animal, I would not recommend re-using as it can be soiled without noticeable smell. With that said, you get a very large portion for the price so even if you do have to throw it out, it’s still a great price for the amount you get.

Q: do i need to do anything to it before using it?

You don’t have to do anything before using it in the enclosure, but I would suggest putting in the freezer for 24-48 hours, letting it thaw and dry out again to get rid of any organisms such as a little critters (bugs)/parasites before placing in the enclosure. Just in case. I go by the mantra, “better safe than sorry”. You wouldn’t want your little friend to get sick.

You would have to contact the manufacturer On this topic. I don’t have enough information to give, as mine was closed.

Q: Do I need to sterilize it?

I don’t think so, I’ve been using this for my hammos for months. More decorative, but from time to time I see them nibble on it or use it for bedding :)
