Mecurate 5-in-1 Stud Finder Wall Scanner for Studs, Metal & Live AC Wires

Its a little quirky, and not super consistent, but after a few checks from different directions you can trust it. Definitely can see why this is one of the cheapest products of its kind you can find - others are way more expensive.

Reasonably good value for the money but the instructions state it cannot be completely relied upon. However, it is very easy to use (after reading the instructions) and interpret the display. Battery included with the device was great but best to take it out when not using the detector. Remember this device is a very good guide (not 100% reliable) as to what is hidden.

I'm always putting up shelves, mounting monitors and lining up picture rails, so a dependable stud finder has been overdue. The little Mecurate five in one has stepped up nicely. A single button lets me scroll through 19 mm timber stud, 38 mm deep stud, 60 mm metal and 50 mm live wire settings, each shown on a bright back-lit screen. When it locates something solid it emits a cheerful beep, loud enough to cut through a whirring drill. On ordinary plasterboard it's bang on. The live wire alert has already spared the consumer unit an unexpected firework show, and that alone justifies the price in my book. Calibration takes only a moment, but you must reset it each time you lift the sensor off the wall, which slows bigger jobs when your arms are starting to ache. Accuracy tails off on double board and skim, so I still prod a bradawl in before committing a screw. Even so, the casing feels sturdy rather than toy-like and the neat pouch stops it wandering to the bottom of the toolbox. All told it's a useful bit of safety kit. There is a modest learning curve, yet a couple of practice passes on scrap board will see you right.

Not too impressed....buzzer needs to be louder...not sure on it's accuracy

Real purchase here not a bought review. Tool is Innacurate and inconsistent. Followed instructions had mixed results, then I found guide on youtube as well still mixed results. Either my whole wall is made of electric wire or the actual wires aren't wires. there is no inbetween. There doesn't seem to be any consistency as with each restart and recalibration it's finding the wires elsewhere. It found a wire inside my wooden door. Cant trust it with studs either. Love the instuctions part that says "do not rely solely on the stud finder to locate objects behind wall" - why do you think i purchased it? I don't have other way to find out if the wire is there it's house build in the 1980s

Worked perfectly and saved a lot of grief when drilling air duct holes for aircon unit. So easy to use and seems very accurate.

Seems to work ok. Not as user friendly as my old one but has more features. I guess I'll get used to it.

This stud finder was easy to use right out of the box and made hanging shelves and pictures much less stressful. It found studs accurately and consistently, and the display was clear and easy to understand. It feels well made, and the simple operation makes it a great tool for both DIY projects and quick jobs around the house. I'm very happy with the purchase.
