Let's just say antique.)I hadn't realised you had to put it together, which I ended up really enjoying - allow an hour for this if it is your first time. Wear glasses and do not let your cat help :)I use the toy to help put children at ease in a clinic setting - there are so many pieces that I have only ended up using a few at a time, which makes it really versatile, and there is plenty to imagine and talk about.
