I really like this unit. I went for the most powerful in my budget and was thankful I did with this bout of hot weather. No more being not able to sleep due to the heat.

I bought this because it seemed good value for the price, and quieter than many. This item is heavy, fortunately the delivery agent brought it into the house for me. From there it was easy to unpack because the body of the box lifts off, leaving the ACU sitting on a base. You just need to be able to lift it enough to remove the base, and I managed this fine on my own. The item was well packed but without an excessive amount of packaging. The instructions are, however, rubbish and I could not work out how to attach the hose at the back and got no helpful answer from the seller. Please see my photo of the back of the machine: you straighten out the hose then screw it onto the flat plate which slides onto the back of the machine from left to right. Then attach the other end of the hose to the tapered window adapter. I also managed to use the included window kit, which is actually for a sash window, to attach the outlet hose to a standard side opening window. I will be buying an extension for the outlet hose (plenty available on Amazon) so that I can position the unit in the hall to keep the whole ground floor cool. The downside of having the outlet hose through a downstairs window is that your house isn't secure so you can't go out and leave it running.In use, the machine seems effective (based on using it for a very short time); I could feel a cold draught coming from it when sitting in the adjacent room. I think the best way to use it would be to get it running before the room gets too hot, so it doesn't have to work as hard. It is not particularly quiet but I could certainly live with the noise, and would certainly prefer the noise to sweltering heat. The night time setting is a bit quieter but not much; I think I would use it to get the bedroom cool and then turn it off when I went to bed.All in all it seems like a good purchase.

Don't waste your money or electric on this item,

Won't cool a room unless all the doors and windows are closed. Very loud, but then again they all are. Sometimes I think it doesn't kick in the cooling unless you set the temperature again, so might not be suitable for use with a smart plug. Energy consumption is reasonable, around 900w on max cooling/max fan speed, 130w for fan only.

Really pleased with how cold this made the room very quickly. Unfortunatly it was damaged and was leaking. Customer service was fab and refunded very quickly. Would buy again

Very noisy but in the current heatwave the coolness outweighs the noise issues.
