I read it in 2 days….
I love Matt Haig.I’m going through a life changing illness at the moment and this book has helped me look outside of myself.Really easy to read….lots to think about. I enjoy both fiction and non-fiction works by this author and recommend him to anyone caught in a spiral of depression finding it impossible to see a way out. Please all look after yourselves and each other.

Such a lovely book. No pressure to read it regularly, just literally when needed!
This is a really uplifting book and does what it says on the tin - comforts. It offers encouragement and is so inspirational. I keep it by my bed and read a couple of pages most nights before I go to sleep. A must have for everyone!

Matt always seems to know when I need him, whether he is aware of it or not.
Anyone that knows me knows of my love for Matt Haig and all he does. I don’t want to be one of those people who say I knew him before he became popular…but I’m going to be. I had a number of his books before he became Matt Haig. I mean, he’s always been Matt Haig (well, as far as I’m aware), but the Matt Haig that everyone knows and loves nowadays. And I couldn’t be happier for his success. I own all 11 of his adult fiction and non-fiction books and am gradually collecting his children’s books (even if I am 20+ years older than his intended audience).Obviously, I think Matt’s fiction books are terrific, but there’s something utterly sublime and comforting about his non-fictions. I read an early review for this book where the reviewer complained that it had no structure or flow or theme and was just a collection of wishy-washy random sayings. But for me, that’s the positive. You don’t need to commit to an entire narrative or keep focussed on who is who and what’s going on and how it’s meant to make you feel. You dip in when you need him (I’m rather pleased with that sentence – Matt, feel free to use that in your publicity!)Matt could have let his experience of depression turn into anger and a hatred of the world or a negative head space, and I’m sure he still has those days – as do we all. But instead, he’s used his physical and mental survival to help others see the positives in the world. It may seem corny, but he helps us se the light when there’s an overwhelming darkness.Matt’s first non-fiction book How To Stay Alive came to me during a time of moderate depression, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. His next non-fiction book Notes on a Nervous Planet came out seven months after the death of my father at the age of 57, in a time where I struggled to face the world again. And now, The Comfort Book comes at a time where I’m still unemployed eight months after being made redundant, I’m still in a continuous loop of health battles and medical investigations, and when I’m apprehensive about this new normal the world has become.Matt always seems to know when I need him, whether he is aware of it or not. And I pray he will always be there to offer a helping hand when I need him.

Better as a hardback I would say
I read this on Kindle which I think was it's downfall. Would have worked much better on my coffee table as a "dip into" book. I read it over a few days, but I think it would be better to get it's advice over time. An interesting idea.

Another wonderful read from Matt Haig
I really enjoy Matt Haig's books, from his fiction, factual books and his children's books I just love them all. The Comfort Book is the latest of his books. Described as a hug in a book, I think that this certainly is an apt description. It is a short book, with short pages, quotes, musings, thoughts and anecdotes. I read it within a few days and found it brought out so many emotions in me. A lot of what Matt writes I feel can apply to a lot of people. A book that can be read in order, or dibbed in and out of. I think that it will certainly be a book that I will pick up and read a few pages when I need to settle my mind and get some comfort. Another wonderful read and I can't wait to read his next book.

A book full of comfort
This is not a long read, but it is an uplifting one. Some pages have only a single sentence, and I read it in a couple of hours. A mixture of Matt Haig's personal experience of depression and anxiety and what it has taught him. a sprinkling of Buddhist thought and a dash of Stoicism, this book has wisdom and comfort for anyone who is struggling with life - which I suspect is many of us at the moment.I love Matt Haig's novels - they are full of kindness, and all of them have the capacity to make you think and to be uplifting as well as enjoyable reading. I found this collection slightly less engaging, but I suspect that is because I was already fairly familiar with most of the ideas featured here, and I also suspect I was looking for something outside of myself to give me easy answers, when much of the point of this book is that we have to look inside as well as outside. Some of the book. is quite light - with the author sharing lists of movies and music that have helped him. It is all enjoyable and often thought provoking and sometimes a little challenging in what the author suggests we doI am sure that there is a lot in this book that will be of comfort if you need an uplift, or some practical suggestions to manage and overcome stress, anxiety and/or depression. It should also make you smile.

Hopeful reality
I took this book out of the library and liked it so much I had to buy it so I can dive into it on a regular basis. I have read of Matt's mental health struggles which makes it even more relevant for me.

A perfect pick me up, with some wise words
I enjoyed Matt Haig's book "The Midnight Library" (Highly recommend this one, gives one a whole new perspective on their life, with something to think about when you "wanted" a different life), so much that I looked into his other books, for someone who suffers from mental illnesses this little book helps in ways that are needed, nothing heavy or medical information just some wonderful thoughts to give one pause on their life and illness's frame of mind. I even bought the audio to listen to on my walks. It's simple, fun and wise. Great work Matt.
