Bought for my college son's dorm room. Looks very authentic (like a real book) and would be good place to stash things in a dorm or other place. Is clever because most people would not even think to look twice at a boring old dictionary, especially in this day and age with internet. Obviously not totally secure because could be broken into pretty easily with hammer or screwdriver, or just physically picked up carried away if the thief discovered it. Would be nice place to hide valuables or other things in plain sight, and safer than putting cash, etc under a mattress/drawers/closets, etc, where thieves would be likely to look. The metal is not super-cheap, either, and heavier than I expected for the price. Cool gift and nice value. Would also be nice gift for little kids to store their money or treasures. Am going to buy one for my own professional office to keep various stuff in that's not in our office safe, since I feel pretty confident that the average burglar who broke in looking for money or drugs, could care less about looking through my books and much more likely to go through other areas in the office.

Used this to put money in for gift. I wouldn't put anything really valuable in. Was unique.

This product is useful and a good buy for its price. If you are looking for a way to conceal something small like passport, money or jewelry, it will do; but it will still depend on how to place them inside and where to hide the "book." The product description is correct but like any other products, it wasn't everything. Here is what I've seen:- A metal box with 2 keys covered in front and back by a strong thick board designed to look like bookcover, and the sides (white area) are covered by plastic that is designed to look like paper. In close range, you might only fool 5/10 people once they see it or touch it. So it will depend on where you will place the "book" to make concealment more effective. If you put with other books on a shelf, it'll be perfect.- Since it is made of metal, it CLANGS. Things like keys or pens or jewelry or guns or ammo had to be anchored or secured to prevent them from making sounds.- It doesn't have a cover page for the second layer of concealment, so even if you've secured your important stuff perfectly inside the metal case, once they've opened the book the metal box is in sight.

Some reviews were saying that the actual "pages" part of the book looks fake, and that is true. Anyone can easily tell it's plastic, but as long as you have it on a bookshelf with the pages part of the book hidden, it looks just like a normal book! There is quite a bit of room to add money, jewelry, or other small items you want to hide. I also like the fact that it comes with keys instead of a lock code. I'm super happy with my purchase and is easily disguised!

I was a little bit disappointed with this item for it wasn’t anywhere near in size as my old one. It could be bigger.

A while back, I was searching for a discreet safe. Something my roommate couldn't find. I searched and found that the safe looking like a soda can, or a water bottle, could be accidentally thrown away. An outlet would be too challenging to install. Then I found this. I liked the fact that it has a lock, so even if it's found, it can't be easily accessed. Then there's the fact that it's a dictionary, so it blends in perfectly with my bookshelf.
