14.75 oz. heavy denim, great quality for the money. Those complaining about size have gotten used to vanity sizing by most blue jean vendors (esp. Levi's), where the true waist size is a couple of inches larger than the tag size to make you think you're skinnier than you are. Prison Blues is real size. My Blues can be tight (depending on how much I've eaten) while the same size Levi's are falling off if I don't cinch up the belt.

Better Denim, Fit and Construction than any jeans purchased by me in a looong time and priced right to boot. Size 44-34. Solid 5 stars

The waistband runs small compared the the rest of the jean. Nice quality but just to small.

These jeans are better than levis. Well made and most durable. Will be ordering more items from Prison Blue. Great Program State of Oregon. Bought one pair the size I usually wear. They were one size to small. I already washed them so I could not return. Figured I would buy the next size larger thinking that would work. They fit smaller than the first pair. I’m going in a different direction. $80 and I still don’t have pants I can wear.

They weren’t at all close to size

Out of the box, the fabric is both coarser and thicker than the Lee brand jeans I usually wear. The waist is measured accurately and the denim does not have any of the elasticity that newer jeans tend to have - this means that if you're accustomed to a slightly loose fit at the waist you probably will need to order a waist size larger than you typically wear. You will also need to order a size up if you tend to carry any hardware in your waistband. The legs are loose and have a lot of room, which is desirable if you need to kneel a lot and move about in awkward positions - not so much if you normally prefer slimmer jeans. Great work jeans, but not fashion jeans unless you miss the wider leg 90's designs. Overall they seem well made - just take my suggestion to order a waist size larger seriously if you've gotten accustomed to modern stretchy waistbands and such.I'm against private prison labor when it's hidden from the customer, but this product does not claim to be anything else and is very up front about how it is made and where the money goes. I'm also sure many of the people working in the facility would rather be busy than not. Hopefully they can take pride in what they make because it is a solid product. I will purchase again.
