Painted Appliqué - A New Approach Paperback – Illustrated, December 18, 2013

First, I must admit that Linda is a friend. That said, I took her Painted Applique class on a Quilting Cruise and I am hooked! The technique is easy, the book is well written, with instructions for both cloth applique and painted applique. If you have wanted to dabble in painting on fabric, this is the book for you. She uses a variety of fabric paints, ink pencils etc and lays out a description of each in the beginning chapter. We used Derwent Inktense pencils and a fabric medium. I love them so much that I have purchased a larger set . Thrilled with the whole concept.

Would be really good for beginner unfamiliar with the techniques but I pretty much have all the information in other books with better explanations. Really like the patterns but found the lack of information on products really really disappointing . And the first thing I read upon opening was all the " you can nots" so if you are planning to make something for a charity raffle or such be aware you have to get permissions all over the place. Really annoying. Had I seen it in a store and looked thru it would have saved my money

I am an experienced art quilter who uses many mediums in my work. I bought this book to see if she had any new techniques as I plan to do a painted applique quilt. She lists all the different brands she uses and most are the same as I use. Her patterns are great for a traditional quilter and she gives some good information on painting. Unfortunately for me, it was old news and I didn't gain much.

My daughter & I went to a major Quilt show & saw Linda demonstrate the techniques in this book. We were both intrigued by the idea of creating your own appliques. Its definitely not for beginners, nor anyone who doesn't want to put your creative juices to the test. We've found it fun & encouraging to try our own styles.

The book wasn't what I had thought it was going to be but after going through the book I am so glad I have it in my library. A valued resource for my quilt making.

This was very educational. I liked that it covered many mediums. Not just one technique was covered. Insightful and the instruction was very clear..

All written explanation for this technique. Almost like taking a class from Linda Poole. She gives sources for the products needed and great diagrams of the projects.

I was quite impressed with this book as it shows both the regular applique technique and then the painted applique technique. It is very well written with excellent pictures. I highly recommend this to those looking for a new technique in applique.

Nice book, but not a great lot of use without the DVD which was ordered before the book, and never arrived at my address.
