The RUSH Album That Made Them Stars
"Moving Pictures" was the album that put Rush on the road to super-stardom. While their catalog represented a lot of great music and a style that surprised many, this, and the era that surrounds it, was essential and represents one of the most well know recordings of the early 1980's.The entire album has been remastered and it is super clean, revealing parts of their recording many may have never heard before. It's paired with a complete live recording, previously unreleased, that demonstrates beyond a doubt the songwriting, musical accomplishment and showmanship of the band. And it all comes from just 3 guys and doesn't have a lot of digital trickery found in many of the more recent recordings from other bands.Everything about this 3 disc package deserves to be here and fans will enjoy this for years and years to come.

Great 40th anniversary Moving CD
The original CD was remastered in 2015 and sounds great. It also contains a 2 CD live set, which is primo- Live From YYZ, 1981. It is a multifold cover, and has some good pictures as well as liner notes about the album. I have the original on album from when it was released, but decided to pick this up to have the live CD's. I am glad I did.

Leave out the fiction.
I first heard Rush in 1981 with "Moving Pictures" and "Tom Sawyer". I wouldn't buy an album of theirs for several more years. In 1987, after seeing the video for "Time Stand Still", I went and bought "Hold Your Fire". Since then, I have become a Rush disciple having to endure weird Rush criticisms from people I least expected to hear it from. Oh well, their loss.I have all of Rush's albums, and I'm not afraid to admit that my favorite period of Rush is 1981-1993 when they were experimenting with New Wave Progressive Rock. I like Progressive Rock, too, mind you, I mean I have all of King Crimson, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Genesis, Yes, and of course, Rush. It's just that I really liked what they were doing with their sound and sonics in the 1980's.So, anyway, "Moving Pictures". I owned the original compact disc, then the 1997 remaster, and then the 2011 remaster, and now the 2015. I have to say, I prefer this 2015 mix, and my understanding is that the band themselves oversaw this mix. I really felt like I was hearing "Moving Pictures" for the first time. The space and dynamics I felt were very good in this mix. In fact, I felt like I could really hear things, nuances, that I didn't hear in the previous remasters. Kudos to the band for taking matters into their own hands. I sure hope they release the 2015 mixes of "Signals", "Grace Under Pressure", "Power Windows", "Hold Your Fire", "Presto", "Roll the Bones", "Counterparts" and "Test for Echo".Now, "Moving Pictures" is good, classic Rush, but not necessarily my favorite of theirs. I'd give the album four out of five stars, but this mix gets a five star rating. So, I don't need to say to you, the Rush fan, that I found this version to my liking, and I think you will too.

Awesome Set1
I have been a RUSH fan for 50 years now, and this set is beyond awesome! It has been entirely remastered and exemplifies RUSH at their finest. I must also add that Amazon took my order, and fulfilled it in ONE business day! Unbelievable service from a very fine company. My prime membership will extend indefinitely!

The Holy Grail of live Rush!
I was first introduced to Rush in 1981 when I heard Tom Sawyer on the radio. I've been a huge fan ever since. My favorite period is the Terry Brown produced years of 77 - 82, although I like all of their albums. I was a bit disappointed with the mastering of the 40th anniversary sets, especially Permanent Waves (It really lacks in the high end). Moving Pictures is the 1st of the 40th anniversary sets that sounds really good to me. The real reason I love these 40th editions is the live material. The Farewell To Kings live show is fantastic. Hemispheres is ok. No multi track tapes exist from that tour so all they had were bootlegs to choose from. The Permanent Waves live material is again fantastic. It kills. But the best of all is the complete Moving Pictures tour show, recorded in their home town of Toronto. I couldn't have asked for more. It's the ultimate live rush. It sounds great. The band is on fire and the song selection is the best of any tour they did. I couldn't be happier to actually listen to this now, 41 years later. I did see the the Signals tour in 1982 when I was 14. It had such a huge impact on me that I became a professional drummer and I'm still a very active player. I'm really hoping they release a full Signals tour as well but I don't know if they recorded any of that tour. Crossing my fingers. Anyway, I recommend the Moving Pictures 40th anniversary. The remaster sounds great and it's the very best live album that Rush has ever released.

Llegó muy rápido
La presentación del Cd es muy buena, pero no está protegido el cd, roza con el cartón, faltó protegerlo con un aislante plástico.

Nice update to a great album. And to Exit stage left.
A well done remaster. I have the remastered album already. I ordered the CD because of the added update to the Exit stage left tour and man was it worth it. I compared songs on Exit to this version and the newer version in this package is much louder and more clear though a bit raw. And as a bonus there are more songs from that tour on this version that weren't on Exit Stage Left. Another interesting element of this version is the mix. Exit has a complete stereo wide mix, meaning great separation but guitar on left and right as is drums, bass and vocals. The new live CD has an interesting mix of guitar left, bass right and the rest centered. Still stereo but a panned to achieve a concert feel. This was a norm on many of the 70's recordings. Very cool. In comparison, I like Geddy's more polished vocals on Exit better than this new version. But the music mix on this version is far superior as Exit sounds muddy compared to this version. OK, enough blathering, just buy it!
