## Description

Hearing loss from exposure to loud sound affects millions of people. Noise-induced hearing loss is preventable. And it's easy to prevent. ETY-Plugs were developed to provide low cost, one-size-fits-most high fidelity earplugs that can be used in a variety of noisy environments. The goal of the ETY-Plugs design was the same as Etymotic's famous Musicians Earplugs: to reduce noise but preserve sound quality; in effect, to turn down the noise but not muffle voices, environmental sounds, or music. These high-fidelity earplugs are effective or anyone who needs to hear accurately in noise: attendees at concerts, clubs, other loud performance venues; aircraft personnel; construction workers; industrial workers; medical/dental workers; workers in environments with loud music such as concert halls, nightclubs or bars; emergency vehicle personnel; athletes; participants in motor sports; truck drivers. Each purchase includes high fidelity earplugs, black cord, carrying case, and instructions. Easy to carry in your purse, backpack or pocket. Available in standard size for smaller ear canals or large size for larger ear canals.

Review: Great earplugs - I like these. They are the fourth pair of "nice" earplugs I've tried (I'm not counting the regular foam ones, which don't even fit into my ears), and have so far been the best. They fit snugly in my ear and really filter the sound well, and generally stay put well too (I dance in them, including fast spins, and they do not slip out at all - however, like most earplugs, you may notice when you smile or move your face in certain ways, they may open up slightly, or if you exercise vigorously in them like me and get sweaty. I've found this with every earplug I've tried, but these seem to do it less than others). They also are not very noticeable with the clear stems, which I like. They are also easy to insert and remove. The only issue I have is that they are uncomfortably tight - at the end of a couple of hours, while my ears are thankfully not ringing, they are in pain from being squeezed by these things. As a caveat, I do have really tiny ear canals, so it may just be me. They also are better than another pair I tried that was really inflexible and even more painful - these at least have some give. Then again, I wonder if these would be snug enough for large ear canals, but maybe the flexibility would make them adaptable. Regardless, they've worked well for me overall and I find myself reaching for these every time and leaving my other ear plugs at home. I haven't used them long enough to see how they'll hold up, but the plastic seems sturdier than another brand I tried with a similar construction. I would recommend trying them, especially if you have smaller ear canals and regular plugs don't fit. Update 7/16: I have changed my rating from 4 to 5 stars and ordered a second backup pair, because these earplugs have remained a favorite. The main downside is that if you are using them during heavy activity when you are sweating and moving a lot, you might find yourself having to push them back in fairly regularly. I only use them for dancing so I don't know if this would be an issue for other activities. However, compared to the benefits and considering the price, I think these are a great buy. Also, people almost never notice that I am wearing them, even when my hair is up, which is great - I love that they are discreet. They also really filter sound well without giving you that muffled feeling. Highly recommended! Update 5/17: I am still using and enjoying these earplugs. However, I must note that they are NOT sufficient for very high volumes. I recently attended a music event and wore these throughout, but experienced horrible ringing in my ears for days afterwards. They are still good earplugs and have saved me at other times, but be aware that for a certain level of noise you will need something with more protection.
Review: Music Festival Tested Good - I was just at Austin City Limits Music Festival. I ordered these too late, so day 1 I had to use foam earplugs. With foam earplugs the sound gets muffled so much I end up just plugging one ear and leaving the other exposed to damage from too much volume. I would alternate ears to even out the damage; not recommended. Day 2 and 3 of the festival I had these. The sound was so much better I would leave them both in for all the bands where we got anywhere near the stage. They do cut down the noise less than the foam earplugs (I'd guess 12dB is accurate, no way it is 20dB) but they cut it down much more evenly. Because the sound sounds good I would actually use them a lot more. As for comfort these aren't as comfortable as foam. They are stiffer rubber and feel uncomfortable as you stick them in. However, once they were in I found I got used to them and after awhile didn't notice them anymore. Taking them out also isn't fun, I don't recommend taking them in and out a lot. Put them in, leave them in for an hour or two. They do securely stay in once they are there, which is nice. On the minor things I like the little rubber case they come in. Squeeze the case to open it, pinch it to securely close it. Well designed. As are the little neck cord you can attach if you are into that sort of thing. Also I liked the mini-chain so you could attach the case to your keys or a belt loop if you wanted to.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are the frost tip plug standard fit any larger than the blue tip standard fit?**
A: I think the frost tip is slightly larger. The blue tip fits my ears perfectly and protect me from a VERY LOUD drummer and keyboardist :D

**Q: Can you keep the detachable wire on and still have the same sound quality? Or do they have to be off when using them at a concert for example.?**
A: The string does not affect the sound. Just leave it always on that way if one falls out it’s attached to the other one. It’s essentially designed so they dangle around your neck when not in use. It’s very useful to keep them there a while to dry after a sweaty session.

**Q: Would these block out sounds like sniffling, but still let me hear a lecture?**
A: I don't think it wold block out sniffling and allow you to hear a lecture. It's much more geared to protecting your ears from loud sounds like loud bass in clubs or a concert and loud street noise like sirens. They may block out the sniffling, but they would make the lecture hard to hear.

**Q: Are these made with Latex in any way?**
A: ETY-Plugs eartips are made of a thermoelastomer. They do not contain latex.Etymotic Research

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for concerts - somewhat painful.
*by T***R on January 15, 2016*

I use the ear plugs at concerts - everything from metal to electronic. Overall, they work pretty well and they don't muffle to vocals as terribly as foam ear plugs. I think they do a good job at protecting your ears from the loud music, and I haven't had any of that pleasant ringing that continues for days after the concert since I started using these. They provide good protection even when standing directly in front of the amps in the front row. My main complaint would be that they do not sit very comfortably in my ears. I have to twist them quite a bit to get them at an angle which is somewhat comfortable, and the longer they remain in, the more the inside of my ears start to ache. This could by my ears - I don't know, but it's something to consider. I've found myself taking them out and popping in foam ear plugs whenever a band comes on stage who I don't care for (as the music quality is much higher with these compared to foam ear plugs). I'll be trying something else next time a buy, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy another pair if I can't find something better. They are definitely an upgrade from disposable foam ear plugs for anyone interested in enjoying a concert without getting tinnitus.
