Schwinn Kedzie Single-Speed Fixie Road Bike, Lightweight Frame for City Riding

I bought this bike because I thought that a fixed gear would be easier to assemble and I was right. Even though the printed manual was for a Hybrid Schwinn, it still made sense and the assembly went quickly and smoothly. I spoke zero swear words, a new record for an assembly. The front brakes needed basic adjusting and after making sure all the nuts and bolts were tight, I was on my way. The bike rode well--fast and steady with good traction on asphalt and concrete. After riding a bargain brand bike for a few years, it felt good to go back to Schwinn.

This bike does not come assembled but it is pretty easy to assemble if you have the right size wrench and Allen tools. I have now rode this bike a few hundred miles, mostly over pavement but also over some light trails with roots running across them as well. It is geared towards being a city bike but can handle dry dirt and some light trails as long as they are not too steep. Actually it is more geared towards flat ground riding as the brakes are not made for stopping when going downhill. I am just a casual rider and can usually maintain 12 -13 mph on this bike for 20+ miles. It is as lightweight a bike and as good a quality as you will get for the price of just $152. This bike is easily capable of going well over 20 miles per hour on pavement downhill especially and the brakes are not going to stop you if you get going that fast the only way to stop is to ride it out or crash at higher speeds. Overall a very good bike that I am very pleased with especially for the price. It handles gravel fantastically as well as pavement and as I said, I have taken it on some easy trails. It does not however ride well in the mud. Keep an allen tool on you while riding. The handlebar can sometimes loosen if jarred too much (like you have a poorly maintained cracked road or ride on a trail) The only downsides I can think of if using as intended are the just ok brakes that will not stop you downhill and that you absolutely need to be at least 5'10" or taller to ride this bike.

Great bike also came with both sprockets the fixed gear and free spin sprocket even tho they say that it only comes the free spin so I’m very happy with itIf your having issues with your brakes they just need adjustment and a break in you can always take it down to your local bike shop for adjustments. I also recommend the Nextcover seat for this bike it’s very comfortable and has memory foam

Tire popped after third ride in a neighborhood, the brakes come apart with even light adjustment very disappointed in this purchase

The brakes Schwinn put on this bike are junk. No matter how you try to set them, they barely work. So much so, I find them dangerous. Good luck stopping if a car or something is about to hit you. I purchased dual pivot brakes for the front and back here on Amazon. Only $30 USD for the set. Anyways, after installing and setting the new brakes, there's enough braking power to skid. Not that I want to but it is good to know that I can stop now. I still like Schwinn but shame on them for using out dated, single pivot brakes, for anyone who ways more than 50 lbs. Those may be fine on a kids bike but you have to be 5'10" or better to ride this bike.

This is really a great bike for the money. Right out of the box and put together in a few minutes with minimal reading and hand eye coordination. A surprising smooth and fast ride!...Real Schwinn tradition of a good bike for the money; an excellent starter single speed bike. A good street, path bike...plus, it's cool looking....Now, I'm 6'1" ...so it fits me really well.... it's a tall rider....GREAT stretching out ride!...

Bike is 2 stars OK, but needs a bike mechanic to set up to be safe to ride. Fortunately, I worked at a Schwinn Dealer as a bike mechanic in the late 70's. 1. the bottom bracket was so tight, the crank didnt turn. I had to buy a shimano bottom bracket tool to correct this and I had to grease the bearing inside as well. 2. the side pull brake arms were crooked and the brake pads did not ride the rims correctly, I had to put on new brakes to make sure the bike could stop, 1 i had, another I bought on amazon. 3. take apart and great the brake cables so they dont sieze as time goes by. 4. both wheels have poorly adjusted bearing cones that needed to be adjusted. my rear hub was squeaking, btw you need to own a freewheel removal tool to take the sprocket off to get to the cones on the rear wheel and 5. while your at it lube the freewheel pawls and bearings with tri-flow while you have it off. 6. spray all the metal parts with rust protectant so the bike does not rust. 7. use a good high quality water proof chain wax/lube on the chain, it has none on it out of the box. 8. This Bike after being professionally assembled lubed and tuned, should be OK as a semi disposable bike good for a year or two at college. If you are not a good bike mechanic or plan to pay one to do the work needed to make this bike safe to ride, dont buy this bike and expect to take it out of the box and go riding. Bring to a local dealer and pay for the full tune up first. google sheldon brown to learn more about fixing your bike...

The bike is excellent and very smooth to ride, however you may need to get a more comfortable saddle.

Received bike with inner tube hidden in tire. I removed the tire and found it was there hidden with a hole in it and had been taped like in picture. Wheel rim bent and damaged. Maybe Amazon could mail me a new inner tube and rear wheel.
