I bought these for my hermit crabs who are outgrowing their current shells. I haven't been able to find the right size anywhere - the openings are either smaller than what the crabs now have or huge and way too big. The openings on the ones I received were much bigger than anticipated, but better than what I've found locally, so I would have put them in the tank and hoped they would eventually grow into them, however, one of the shells had a triangle shaped chip broken off of the edge, leaving a sharp point on part of one edge. This makes it useless for my crabs. It did NOT break in shipping because the chip was not inside the bag they came in. So there is a lack of quality control here and they shipped me a pretty badly chipped shell either without noticing or without caring. I don't appreciate having to go to the time and trouble of sending it back, but back it goes. If you are buying just for decoration, you could set it down so the opening didn't show and the chip could be hidden, so it would probably work ok. I would NOT recommend for hermit crabs.

There was no damage and the shells were beautiful and well polished. My crabs seem to really like them to because they switched over to them within a few hours.

These shells are great! Just what our Hermie needed. He’s been investigating shells so we knew he was ready to move, but our shells were just too small. They arrived carefully packed in bubble wrap, we boiled them in distilled non iodized salt to sanitize. One opening is quarter sized and the other is bigger. Good quality, smooth shells with NO rough edges or chips. He immediately jumped on the smaller shell, measured it up, spun it around a few times and moved right in wasting no time! After a quick nap, he’s cruising around like a boss!!! Love that we nailed it on the first round of new shells!

My hermit crab was in a shell way too small for him, he’d outgrown it long ago. I tried everything to get him to move into some other shells, but he wouldn’t. He just didn’t like something about those shells. I bought this one because the reviews looked good. I left it in the tank at an enticing angle, put a little salt water in it (because I read that will attract them). What do you know my daughter ran in with the shell the next day, he’d moved in! It was the perfect fit, he looked very happy. So of course this deserves 5 stars, and I highly recommend them for your hermit crabs.

I had tried to order the next size up shell that my hermit crab needed but kept missing the mark. Was worried about getting these and still having them be too small but, just right. Glad I bit the bullet and paid the price. Within two days our largest hermit crab moved into his new home

My hermit crab absolutely LOVES these shells. It came with 2 shells, one slightly bigger than the other. The shells were only in the tank about a half hour before my crab moved right in! She is having so much fun jumping back and forth to all 3 shells. She changes multiple times a day, almost like getting dressed for they day and putting PJs on later. LOL. The opening is about an inch to inch and a half. They are the perfect size for my growing crab who had outgrown all the other brands that call their shells medium to large.

I expected these to be a little bigger. We will see if our hermit crabs like them or not. The stickers inside were pretty hard to get out and one has a chip. Not sure if I’d purchase again.

Omg these are so beautiful...they aren't cheap looking and feeling at all... they are so nice almost didn't want to put the shells in with my crab...after reading all the previous reviews I had to order and thank God I did...my crab loved them and moved into one of the shells immediately! Like it didn't waste any time it checked it out and moved in!!!! 😁
