URBAN ARMOR GEAR[UAG Samsung Galaxy S8+ [6.2-inch Screen] Plasma Feather-Light Rugged [Ice] Military Drop Tested Phone Case

I've tried the Pathfinder, Plasma, and Monarch and I ended up sticking with the pathfinder. I never tried the metropolis because folio cases don't interest me. Really you can't go wrong with any of these cases but here are my thoughts on each one.The Pathfinder has a nice solid matte finish and therefore doesn't attract smudges or fingerprints. The honeycomb cells inside are made of TPU. The top and bottom lips are about the same or a little higher than similar protective cases. The sides don't come up as high but seem to be adequate. I did a few drop tests from only about a foot just to see how much "bounce" the case has and I was pleasantly surprised. A face down drop resulted in it bouncing a little and coming to a rest. Much better than some other cases which just slam down with a thud. The matte finish is a little slippery but the textured design gives your fingers places to rest and the grip improved once I got used to it. Overall this is my favorite case.The Plasma is almost the same as the Pathfinder until I inspected it more closely. Besides having a translucent glossy/matte mixture on the polycarbonate back, the honeycomb cells inside are also hard polycarbonate. The difference is the five TPU "shock pads" that very slightly elevate the phone from the back of the inside of the case. The grip is slightly better due to the glossy parts of the back but not by much. The bounce test is the same as the Pathfinder. It's not exactly a fingerprint magnet but it does smudge. It scratches easily, just from one days use in and out of my pockets there were already about seven scratches. Not extremely noticeable unless you nitpick things like me. All in all It seems to provide the same level of protection.The Monarch, while looking like it provides more protection, doesn't really seem to. It more closely resembles the Pathfinder in that the honeycomb cells are TPU and there are no shock pads. Besides that, the design on the back is a separate piece rather than molded into the case.The leather, as far as I can tell is so thin it's only there for looks. While the photos of the Monarch make it look like the raised edges are higher than the other cases, it's actually less than a millimeter difference. The top and bottom lips as well as the distance it is raised when placed face down are the same as the other cases. The sides do have a honeycomb grip pattern but to me it makes very little difference. I think the Monarch is more about the look and multiple materials and if it is more protective it's not much. It's also not as bouncy as the other cases. Overall a good "premium" case.TL;DR All of the UAG cases offer excellent protection, feel good in the hand, and look good if you like the industrial/rugged design. I just prefer the Pathfinder.On a side note, I measured the difference of height when face down compared to an Otterbox Defender using pennies. With all the UAG cases I could slide one penny underneath, two touched the glass. The Defender could accommodate two stacked pennies but not a third. Basically we're talking about 1.5 mm difference. The Defender definitely has much wider bezels but overall the extra protection seems negligible. If your S8 lands face down, the smallest debris, especially rocks or uneven asphalt could break your screen. That's the fault of the curved screen design more than the case. The only case I've found that has a raised bezel around the entire screen is the Pelican Voyager but personally it doesn't seem as protective because of how rigid it is. I've finally found my case, and UAG is my new favorite.

There's a reason this is consistently the highest rated rugged phone case on the market. It goes on easily, but stays on securely. It has a solid feel to it but isn't bulky like every other rugged case. It's got extra protection in all the right places, and it just looks cool. I'm using this with the OTAO tempered glass screen protector (which is also awesome) and they are the perfect combination.Trust me, if you're reading this right now, you need to stop shopping and buy it now. You will not be sorry.

I ordered this for my S8+ which I just picked up. It came highly recommended from a few places, and so far, I haven't been disappointed. The case was a cinch to put on my phone. It looks good and doesn't add a lot of unnecessary bulk to an already large phone.The opening on the back for the camera and sensors is perfectly sized, and I find it's actually EASIER to find the fingerprint sensor with the case on, than with the phone "naked".I also ordered a car mount/wireless charge system by iOttie, and the wireless charging feature works with the case installed, as advertised.I been lucky enough that I haven't had to test the protective qualities of this case in event of a drop, and I'm hoping that doesn't happens soon. The phone IS easier to maintain a grip on with the case installed though, so I doubt it will be dropping anytime soon.Overall, I'm quite happy with this, and I would definitely recommend this case for others. The UAG Plasma will be my "go to" case in the future.

I had one of these for about three years, it held up great and probably saved my phone a few times. I bought a new one recently and it took 3 weeks for the portion covering the power button to snap off for no discernible reason. I don't know what changed quality wise in the last three years, but something certainly did.Edit:Not even 4 weeks after purchase it is falling apart and the sides are coming off.

In search of the best case, I've ordered 3 different Spiegen cases, an OtterBox defender, and a Bodyguardz. The Spiegen's were too slippery and the cases felt too flimsy, not much protection. The Defender was too slippery, although sturdy, but was just too bulky. The smoked Bodyguardz case was great, it had grip, a very nice look, and just the right thickness. However the case was scratching very easily just from normal usage. Now to the Pathfinder. Initially I was disappointed because the back was too slippery, only the edges have a grippy feel. The case was not bulky, looked good in flat black, and felt super protective, so despite the slipperyness I decided to leave it on for a week and a half. Sure enough, due to the lack of grip I have dropped it twice, on tile flooring. However, both times the Pathfinder did its job. It was almost too good, the soft cushiony rubber corners protected the phone and even dampened the sound on impact, almost silent! With confidence in it's protection, I have finally found THE good case. I dropped it to four stars due to the lack of grip on the back of the phone. Other than that it's perfect

Not sure why there is a rating for fingerprint reader on the case. You can access the fingerprint reader on the phone when the case is on. The case fits well. purchased this one to replace one that wore out. On the old one the power button eventually broke out of the case. i suspect this one will fail the same way but the old one lasted several years under constant use so i think it had a reasonable life time. i am hoping this one will be the same. can't comment on durability as i have only had the case a relatively short time and the phone is now a back up so it doesn't get used much.

Es la segunda funda UAG que utilizo en Galaxy y realmente recomendada, mi anterior teléfono jamas se rompió de nada a pesar de una gran cantidad de caídas por 3 años, protegida por ambos lados.Super excelente case de materiales resistentes y con bonito diseño.Razón por la que volví a comprar otra y la conseguiría nuevamente para mi siguiente teléfono

Bought this for my Samsung s8 plus in colour Ash....(as a girl my cases tend to be girly and glittery), so I wanted more protection with a case that wont make my phone feel too bulky ... Or make my phone look too manly like otter boxes etc. I Loveee the case... It has no weight to it, feels good in the hands, and even though the case is rugged looking and probably geared more for menbased on it's design, it's such a different design that it adds flare, so that it still feels girly somehow. I initially bought the case in Ash but my phone is the orchid Grey colour and the ash did make it darker (greyish black) which was a tad darkerfor my preference which in turn made it feel more manly, so I've returned it and ordered the polar ice one instead just to feel brighter and showcase my phone colour more. I'm definately buying the green one come summer! Can't wait for the ice one to ship

I love the feel and grip of this case. The raised corners and lip protect the screen perfectly and overall build quality is always very solid. I feel like I am drop this case without worrying.

Si, son unas carcasas caras, pero valen cada céntimo de euro. Con que se te caiga una vez al suelo ya la has amortizado. Anteriormente tuve una UAG para un Note 4 que me duro casi 3 años y que pasaba por nueva cuando la vendí. Esta otra para el S8+ encaja de maravilla, includo con los laterales curvados
