This is the most needed book for parents dealing with Child Protective Servises.
Spot on for anyone trying to make sense of the nonsense. Yes there are children that need help, but I have seen them fall through the cracks and decent parents trying to do the right things lose everything they hold dear it boils down to if you can't afford a lawyer or can't find one that will stand with you you need the help this book can give

A must read for all parents of medically complex children!
This book is truly life saving for all families. No matter who you are, this is a nightmare that we as parents are all at risk for. This book brings to light the dark secrets of CPS but most of all gives us as parents the power to do the very thing we set out to do when we brought life into this world, protect our children.

clear concise info for all parents, but ESSENTIAL for parents of medically complex children
So much media coverage recently has focused on sad cases of children dying after long periods of neglect or abuse. As a result, healthcare workers and child protective services are on high alert, erring on the side of accusing good parents of bad care. This "when in doubt, report" strategy has evolved so that all families under investigation are presumed guilty. Parents with medically complex kids are at highest risk, simply because they contact the healthcare system so often and their kids' illnesses are not well understood. I have watched in dismay as our child protection system threatened to dismantle terrific families, catching them in a sticky and costly legal web when they were already stressed by severe illness. I was provided an advance copy of this book for review purposes, and it's so clearly written that I strongly recommend it for all families. If you have a child with a chronic illness, I recommend it even more strongly. If you're already wrongly entangled with child protective services, please HURRY and read this book.

A life saving book!
This book is required reading for any caregiver with a child who has a medically complex diagnosis. The advice you get from Beth Maloney will prevent you from many mistakes you might make in the health care system. When you are already suffering as a family with a child with difficult health issues the last thing you need is to be accused of adding to their suffering. Jump to the chapter that will help you with the problem you are facing now, then go back and read the book from the beginning. The author does a fabulous job of making legal issues easily understandable for a lay audience.I was furnished with an advance copy of this book for review purposes.

Essential information for any parent visiting ER with their child
As a parent who was wrongly accused of child abuse in Ontario after my sick baby had been misdiagnosed with child abuse and apprehended by Social services (and only subsequently properly medically diagnosed), I wish I had read this book prior to that incident and saved myself a lot of heartache due to complete ignorance of this very issue. The book contains essential information for any parent (but especially parents of children who have a medical condition) on:-Awareness of the issue of medical kidnapping/false child abuse accusations that many parents are completely unaware of- A detailed guide on what to do should you find yourself in a situation of false abuse accusation (here I want to point out that many parents might think that can never happen to them, but trust me, one ER visit after an accident/with a sick child might be enough to prove you wrong)-Relevant information on where to seek effective help and how to handle the court proceedingsDr.Maloney, the author, is very knowledgeable and every parent residing in or visiting a country where Child abuse pediatricians are a specialization, should have the book in their bookcase.
