Healthier than Nutella, great taste & works better for THIS Type II Diabetic.
We only heard about this a couple of months ago and couldn't wait to try it. Once upon a time we were the kind of people who would eat Nutella with a spoon but as we got older, the amount of sugar in that product was a real turnoff. Finding TBH Hazelnut Cocoa spread has been a game changer. we put it on waffles, in Oatmeal, on Wasa crisp bread and in hot milk for hazelnut cocoa. It doesn't taste exactly like Nutella, and it shouldn't because it is formulated with better ingredients and a whole lot less sugar. You can really taste the hazelnuts in this spread and the cocoa flavor is nice and strong. TBH is yummy and works for me as a type II diabetic, in reasonable servings. Nutella is something I cannot even have anymore because the sugar content is so crazy high & it spikes my blood glucose readings. TBH, on the other hand, doesn't raise my blood glucose levels any higher than other sensible carb control exchanges such as, natural peanut butter, natural almond butter, low sugar seed butters and no sugar added fruit spreads in appropriate servings sizes. That said, remember, each diabetic reacts to foods differently. Try it out by testing pre-prandial and postprandial a few times to see what it does for you before you add it to your list of approved foods. Discuss it with your care team. The consistency of TBH is also more to my liking. It is more like a nut butter spread minus the oil slick at the top of the jar. It reminded me of a well-mixed sunflower butter in consistency. I only cook with Sunbutter now because it is a pain to have to keep mixing the oils back into the rest of the Sunbutter jar. Nutella was always seemed a little gloppy and gelatinous, hard to spread properly cuz it would slide right off the knife. TBH spreads easily and consistently! Unlike other natural or "healthy spreads" this spread doesn't have oil at the top. My family also likes that they do not use environmentally unsound Palm Oil or any hydrogenated fats. It's just easy to understand ingredients that are better for you & better for the planet. We love that it is Vegan and no more expensive than a decent jar of PB. BTW, I have noticed some people find the Pea Protein in this product to be unpleasant. I have hyper-sensitive taste buds and it did NOT leave an after-taste or chalky texture in MY mouth. To me, the overwhelming taste was hazelnut and cocoa. It didn't taste like either Milk Chocolate or Dark Chocolate but COCOA. Some folks might be unused to that and if you are coming off the ultra-sweet Nutella brand, you should know upfront, this brand does NOT taste like Nutella and for ME that is a GOOD thing. If you have had products made with Pea Proteins before and didn't like them, maybe you should taste a spoonful from a friend's jar first, before committing to an entire jar. I want to be sure and recognize the experiences of those who don't like Pea Protein products because we all have our personal tastes. Everyone has different tastebuds and if you don't like pea protein powders mixed into soups or stews, you may not like this product. I like pea protein just fine in small to medium amounts. I don't like Pea Protein paste all by itself. Now, TBH does not overwhelm my taste buds with any pea protein flavor. However, I don't eat it all by itself right from the jar with a spoon. My favorite uses of TBH is to use it in place of syrup on whole-grain pancakes or Belgian waffles or to make rich hot cocoa with oat milk. I am also about to make some Vegan Cinnamon Bread Pudding and I will be adding some swirls of TBH into the bread pudding before baking but AFTER the pudding has sat overnight in the fridge, absorbing the vegan-custard mix I use. I am not taking any stars away for the other annoying thing - the broken screw top. I am blaming Amazon for that. They tossed my jar, unprotected, in a box with a number of VERY heavy items. The side of the screw-top lid broke but the inner seal did NOT break. It wasn't a problem for us because the way it broke, we could still close the top. However, I will put up a photo of it very soon to validate the other folks who had this problem. I went ahead and bought a second jar at the grocery store, and it slipped out of my hand, landing on the hard floor right on the screw-top lid and BOUNCED away! LOL. If the lid were truly that fragile, it should have shattered. SO, my concern is this - under what conditions was this stored at the Amazon warehouse? Too hot? Too cold? Extremes of both types? We often hear from former Amazon warehouse employees that temperature extremes are very common there. I am also going to send the photos I took of the broken screw-top lid to the manufacturer. I say Kudos to them for making the inner seal so dern strong, but yes, they need to find out why people ordering from Amazon are getting borked lids! This is now a once-a-month purchase for us, Via Subscribe and Save. That is how much we like it and I am hoping not to get a broken lid this time around. If I do, I will have to buy this at the store and pay a little more.

Very Good Healthy Substitute for Nutella!!
While TBH certainly differs in taste, compared to Nutella, it is still delicious. The texture itself is also different, but not necessarily in a bad way. To put it simply, it's a bit softer, which is very convenient for me but may be disappointing to others. It is slightly less sweet, but not bitter. It definitely feels more healthy than Nutella and I personally prefer its taste and how it sits in your stomach. It has a very wholesome feel to it. Overall, it's a very good spread that can be used to enhance otherwise boring meals. I personally use TBH for smoothies, milkshakes, and other desserts.

Best vegan alternative
I’ve tried A LOT of vegan alternatives to Nutella, and this is the only one I would actually buy again. It really is the best dairy-free option. If you put them side by side in a taste test, I don’t think I could tell the difference between this and actual Nutella. TBH has the same taste, the spreadable texture, looks exactly the same, is not dry and crumbly like some other dairy-free brands, and doesn’t have that strange fake aftertaste. It is lower in sugar than Nutella, but it’s definitely not “low sugar” (Actually it has more sugar than the Justin’s brand.) It’s also a little bit pricier than some other brands. I appreciate that there is no palm oil in it. Definitely my favorite option on the market right now, and I will buy it again.

Dairy Free
TBH Hazelnut Spread was ordered because it fit the allergy situation going on in our household. It is dairy, and gluten free. I also try to stay away from palm oil, so that was also a plus! There is low sugar, so it is sweet, but not cloying. This is a great alternative for other brands, and I hope that it becomes more mainstream. I do think one thing that may hold it back is the price point. The price does reflect the quality, but I cannot see this being a regular purchase for me (that is my fault more than the company, but my situation also reflects the majority so that may be something for them to consider). I love it though. It is a guilty purchase for me, and I am able to do so because of the ingredients, which I appreciate. If there was a lifetime supply of it like in the movies, our family would be totally thrilled. The second time purchasing was during a lightning sale, so my kid could have an extra treat in their holiday stocking.

Great healthy stuff!!
I had to stop eating Nutella, its so addictive because of the sugar content. I've tried other healthy substitutes and found one that came very close to Nutella but the hickory fiber didn't agree with my digestive system I mean in a good way it moved through me three times a day! So as a last resort I ran across this brand. I've bought their powder products before and like them a lot. But this Hazelnut with chocolate is beyond Heaven. Low in sat. fats, carbs and half the sugar I will be a happy customer when seeking out my chocolate cravings. 😀

Wish it didn't have so much pea protein in it..
I guess I didn't notice when I purchased this, but pea protein is the 3rd ingredient and it is quite apparent. It has that chalky/grainy texture that pea protein lends to everything it's in and the subtle but distinct aftertaste of of pea protein.. It is still creamy and I think it would have been very smooth and creamy without the underlying graininess from the pea protein. The hazelnut flavor is upfront and delicious, definitely better than Nutella. But I do wish there was more chocolate. It is there but it kind of gets drowned out by the hazelnut and pea protein flavor. With Nutella you get blasted in the face with sweetness, then a light hazelnut flavor, then a fairly rich cocoa flavor, then a lingering milky taste and sweetness. With the TBH spread, you pretty much just get tons of hazelnut flavor, then the chocolate liquor flavor shines through a bit right before the pea protein aftertaste. It's definitely chocolatey vs a plain hazelnut spread but there's just not really that rich cocoa flavor shining through at any point. I really like that it has only half the sugar of Nutella, but it still tastes nearly as sweet. I guess it must be from the monk fruit, which I've never had, but I don't detect any weird alternative sweetener aftertaste or anything, so that's a plus! I don't really care for super sweet stuff though, so I was hoping it would actually taste less sweet.. still better on that front than Nutella though! I sound like I hate it, I don't. I think it will still be good on toast where I won't notice the texture as much. I'm very happy it doesn't have that weird milky flavor that Nutella does, I'm glad they don't use palm oil, and it's certainly healthier for you! I'm just disappointed and like.. confused?? about why there's so much pea protein in it?? Is it just to pad their stats? I was more interested in what they were removing from hazelnut cocoa spread (the excessive sugar, milk, palm oil) but they ended up with a longer ingredient list than Nutella after all.. Oh well. It's still a decent alternative to Nutella and will pretty much halve my sugar consumption for the day, so I don't regret getting it, but I will probably try something else when the jar runs out. Unless they come to their senses and remove/lessen the pea protein, then it will be pretty great *wink wink*

Will Byers is a Genius!
Okay, so the creator is not Will Byers from Stranger Things but Noah Schnapp who plays Will on the show and I am so dang proud of this young man. He is so smart as well as talented. I do not like hazelnut spread (like Nutella) but I knew he did since there's photos of him in his even younger years enjoying it quite often. Now I had no idea about the palm oil and how harvesting it damages the planet. Will - I mean - Noah has not only created a quality product but he's also made a fan in me with this delicious spread! Wow! I'm very impressed. I even put some on strawberries and it was so good! The only thing I wasn't too happy with is the cost vs the size of the jar. For $10, it should be a lot bigger. But again, I'm proud of this kid - he's really got a solid plan for his future. Go Noah! Well done! I'm "upside down" for TBH!!!😎👍🏼❤️

TBH = WTF
Update: It finally happened to me! I was sooo excited to see this was delivered as part of my subscribe and save - I wasn’t even paying attention that I was due for a new one. Especially bc they had been out of stock for so long, it was like Christmas when it arrived unexpectedly. Well, I excitedly opened the package just MINUTES after it being delivered and this is what I grabbed. Complete waste. I will not be eating it. The item is not eligible for return, but after contacting Amazon Customer Service they were able to help and I appreciate that. I will try ordering this one more time and if it arrives like that again I will never buy it again! I ordered one Dec 8 and then another on Dec 17 - and I’m a single person household. 🤣 This stuff is ridiculously so yummy! I’ve been vegan for almost 20 years so I don’t remember what Nutella tastes like but I definitely get the yummy hazelnut flavor that reminds me of my fave Lindt truffle filling when I was younger. I’m super happy I just read someone’s comment about being type 2 diabetic also and this product containing pea protein - which I honestly had no idea it was as healthy as it is! I don’t taste the pea protein someone else mentioned. 🤷♀️ I did have the same issue as others with the seal being broken, so glad it’s not just me. But I’ll be honest I didn’t care I just wanted to eat it! I like this chilled when it gets a little fudgey - I eat it straight out of the container. I’ve also started heating peanut butter with coconut oil and then heating TBH with coconut oil poured on top, and chilling it. It’s similar to a Reese’s cup.
