Update: September 6, 2022 -- This has stopped working entirely. It has been used about six times a week, and it has not been dropped or misused.------------------------------------------------My husband and I are both enjoying this pepper mill! It's easy to load and easy to use.I have some trouble with my hands which makes it difficult for me to use a traditional pepper mill. Being able to just grab this and turn it over is awesome. You only need to tilt it to about a 45 degree angle for the grinder to do its thing.It's also comfortable to hold. The shape feels good in my hand, and it doesn't feel slick or like it's going to slip out of my hand.The knob that you turn to set the coarseness of the grind is really easy to use. On several of the MANY pepper mills I've had over the decades, it was such a hassle or so difficult to change the grind setting that I just left it where it was so I didn't have to deal with it. With this one, there is an easy-to-grab knob that you turn to the left (for coarser) or to the right (for finer). Just a heads-up: you have to turn the knob several revolutions to go from finest to coarsest. It's not just a 'click' or a 'notch' from setting to setting.Over the decades, we have had countless pepper mills. At every price point you can imagine, including a Peugeot Olivier Roellinger for over $100. So far, this one is my favorite. Overall I like it, but it does have some issues. Some are fairly minor and not really a big issue, like the fact that the adjustment for changing the grinding size gives no real indication of the result of your relative change other than "spin this way for bigger, this way for smaller." It doesnt "click" into place at certain levels or anything, so say you prefer a fine grind, but your partner prefers coarse. When you adjust from however it was last used to the new setting, you have no tactile OR visual indication to know where to adjust to for the new setting, or where to adjust back to for getting to the previously used setting. Not a dealbreaker or really worth knocking stars off, but a moderate annoyance.The larger issues are lead by the "automatic" function. It works well, but, it needs to be more finely tuned, particularly when it comes to stopping. Like when you are applying pepper, you need to tip up the grinder WELL before you are done applying pepper because it will keep grinding a lot longer than makes any sense. Again, not a dealbreaker, just a dumb thing that could cause you to over-season things.Together the minor issues steal a star, resulting in 4/5, but it is still a good product. grinds well, easy to use, feels pretty nice, etc.

There are some things I like about this pepper grinder. It's very easy to use. You just fill it with peppercorns, turn on the switch and any time you invert the grinder, it automatically starts to grind the pepper and even has a small light so you can see how much pepper you're adding. You flip the grinder back upright and it stops. Super easy! It's also easy to change the coarseness of the ground pepper by twisting the knob at the top. There are a series of circles that decrease in size to indicate the coarseness level, but it's not obvious which way you turn the knob to get coarser or finer.But the real design flaw is the lid for the peppercorn compartment. As you can see in the picture, it's on the side of the grinder, and you slide it up to open it. What this means in actual use is that every time I pick it up, my fingers push the lid up, and the peppercorns start to fall out. The lid needs to have a different mechanism, or just be tighter so it doesn't slide up easily. It's a relatively minor technical issue, but it's very annoying and it happens just about every time I pick up the grinder so I can't recommend this product.

This pepper grinder does what it advertises and that is grinding peppercorns! And it grinds them well. I wasn't sure what the gravity switch meant but after I put the batteries in I realized all you have to do is flip it and it automatically turns on. But downside is it doesn't immediately shut off when you flip it back into storage mode. My unit took one to two seconds to completely turn off. Not a completely bad thing, but I was hoping it would be more responsive. The pepper, it grinds tastes and looks and smells like the pepper it's supposed to so maybe I'm just being too picky!

The grinder is so easy to use. Put in your batteries, put in your peppercorns or salt or whatever spice you need ground. You flip the switch and then turn it over. It starts grinding within seconds. There is a blue light which I found less helpful unless you are adding the pepper to light colored food it doesn't make it easier to see. A white light would be much better. You can adjust the size of the grind to however large or small you need. I usually store the grinder with the switch flipped off to save battery because I'm cheap, but you can leave it on for convenience. I loved mine enough i got another for salt and a pair for my parents.
