Pro-Art Golden Molding Paste, 8-Ounce

My aunt was a professional artist and sculptor and introduced me to the wide variety of gel mediums and all the special effects they can produce. But this, by far, is my favorite. It spreads and peaks like vanilla icing and is ideal for creating "hair," "flower petals," "tree bark," "candle flames" and almost any kind of textured surface you are looking to make. I wish it wasn't quite so expensive. Over the years the price has almost doubled, although I have been using it for many years. But it's such a pleasure to work with, very pliable, with easy clean-up, and doesn't need firing. And it's so much fun! I highly recommend it.

I use molding paste to build texture in my mixed media art. Depending on what I am creating, I either use it as is, out of the jar with palette knives to form my textured base (which I later paint), or I add color to the molding paste and paint with it, using palette knives. I use light and regular molding pastes, as well as gels and other mediums. I prefer working with either Liquitex or Golden products for this application. NOTE: if you are using canvass, you need to use flexible molding/modeling paste. Regular molding/modeling paste is heavier and requires a less flexible surface, such as a wood panel or it may crack.

I used the entire jar making a multi-media painting. I use it to hold swatches of fabric, yarn, pieces of styofoam, etc. in place as well as providing thickness to all tecture. I am not finished the painting. I haven't painted it yet, but the product was so easy to use, and easy to clean up that I highly recommend it.

Does what it should. Pricy, but good. I buy daily Golden products.
